In the month since it was released, Wednesday has racked up a billion hours of views – a level of popularity surpassed only by Squid Game and Stranger Things 4. In equal parts dark and effervescent, with a razor-sharp script (“Sartre said hell is other people. He was my first crush,” Wednesday tells her therapist) and a storyline repping the outcasts and underdogs, this supernatural/coming-of-age/murder-mystery/comedy series became an instant pop culture sensation.

Social media feeds were inundated with fans (including Lady Gaga) in their best Wednesday Addams cosplay, and beauty bloggers advised on how to achieve the perfect berry lip. Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday, is the official It Girl of the moment, and her sartorial slays may have singlehandedly revived the Gothic subculture. We’re certainly feeling the irrepressible urge to invest in a structured LBD and cut in a fringe. If you agree that colour is for normies, check out our edit of creepy Wednesday-certified couture.

Wander into the TikTok-osphere and you’ll find the Gen Zs recreating Ortega’s now-viral choreography to the Cramps’ 1981 cover of Goo Goo Muck. Wednesday appears in a gauzy black frock as she channels Siouxsie and the Banshees; take prom to the dark side yourself with this mid-length tulle piece, complete with ruching and a raw-edged frill.

Rouge Dior lipstick

According to eagle-eyed beauty influencers, Ortega’s purple lip was achieved with a berry liner and clear gloss (regulation at Nevermore Academy, apparently), but this refillable lipstick will do just as well. Dior’s Rouge comes in satin, matte, metallic or velvet finishes and 75 shades – this plummy tint makes a Wednesday-worthy statement.

We don’t know whether Wednesday Addams accessorises, but if her tie game is anything to go by, we’re going to say she does. This silver ring, painted with enamel for an ultra-shiny finish, was first designed in '95, going on to adorn the fingers of Rihanna, Adwoa Aboah and Dua Lipa and even be displayed at the V&A.

Rebecca Vallance Katie mini dress

Maybe Wednesday wouldn’t wear diamantes, but the A-line cut and inky colourway of Rebecca Vallance's Katie dress captures her vibe. This quirky eveningwear is characterised by bow embellishments at the bodice that create a cut-out panel, and puffed sleeves that complement a fitted silhouette.

Self Portrait Tuxedo Mini Dress

The crisp collar is a Wednesday staple. This dress is a playful take on the tux – complete with contrast peak lapels and a mock welt pocket, it’s a more cocktail party-friendly version of the Addams’ monochrome palette. The cutaway back is especially chic.

Gucci Double G earrings

The devil is in the details, and if you’re not wearing black jewellery, you’re not a proper goth. The aged gold-toned metal and black crystals on these Gucci earrings are perfect for our colour-averse heroine. Of course, the double G monogram makes an appearance, too – how else will people know you have great taste in accessories?
