Celebrate the start of October with an abundance of art in London, from Frieze to PAD, plus a pop-up private members' club from Prada
Freize London & Frieze Masters, Regents Park (Thursday – Sunday)
More than 130 galleries and 60,000 visitors congregate in Regents Park this weekend for Frieze London for four days of international contemporary art. The exhibition runs alongside Frieze Masters, which displays important and rare work from ancient times through to the Renaissance and Modern masters. Petersham Nurseries, Moro, Gail’s and XU Teahouse are among the pop-up restaurants, spread across both fairs.

PAD Fair, Berkeley Square (all week)
Coinciding with Frieze London, PAD – Pavillion of Art and Design – is the world’s leading art fair for 20th-century artwork, design and decorative arts. Set in a chic black tent in Berkeley Square, you will find rare furniture, collectible crafts and fine jewellery and from 68 international galleries. Highlights include Objet d’Emotion by Valery Demure showcasing new creations by Melanie Georgacopoulos, Alice Cicolini and Jacqueline Rabun, and an array of furniture from Wa Design in Paris, which celebrates the synergy between French and Japanese design.

The Other Fair, Bloomsbury (Thursday – Sunday)
So named because it runs during the same week as Frieze, The Other Art Fair was launched in 2011 to provide a platform for emerging artists often overlooked by industry stalwarts. Now with annual shows across the US and Australia, The Other Art Fair’s London edition returns to Bloomsbury this October, bringing with it a series of guest exhibitions, site-specific installations, engaging workshops and curated projects addressing the fair’s 2019 Greener Future theme.

Prada Mode Pop-Up, The Strand
Prada unveils a pop-up private members’ club this weekend, designed in collaboration with Chicago-based artist Theaster Gates. The event transforms 180 The Strand with installations, performances and photography and is a continuation of the artist’s ongoing project The Black Image Corporation, which challenges preconceptions surrounding black identity and culture. An eclectic programme of events, screenings and panel discussions, curated in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory and The Showroom is headlined by fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, director Larry Larry Achiampong and the artist Phoebe Boswell.

London Restaurant Festival, across London (all week)
The London Restaurant Festival, in partnership with American Express, brings together more than 250 of the capital’s finest restaurants. The month-long culinary extravaganza includes exclusive tasting menus and masterclasses at restaurants including The Savoy, Indian accent, Hide and The Greenhouse. You can also eat your way around London on a restaurant-hopping tour, which includes a small plate and a drink at five different restaurants (£47 per person).

BFI Film Festival
The London Film Festival, hosted by the British Film Institute, returns for its 63rd year to the capital this weekend for a 12-day celebration of British and international cinema, spanning classic films and new releases. Cinematic highlights this year include The Personal History of David Copperfield, based on the Charles Dickens novel; The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese and The King, the historical drama inspired by William Shakespeare. Screenings are accompanied by panel discussions, including a Screen Talk with Michael B Jordan to discuss his latest film Just Mercy, also debuting at the festival.

Four Seasons’ Pop Down Cinema
Four Seasons’ is transforming Camden Town’s Hawley Wharf basement this weekend into an immersive playground area for adults to relive their youth. A screening of the 1980’s classic Big starring Tom Hanks, will be accompanied by an array of small bites and beverages made by Four Seasons chefs and mixologists.
