Sing it from the rooftops: Pergola Paddington returns this bank holiday weekend for summer 2019. This year’s all-day urban oasis has two alfresco spaces for up to 850 diners. Food vendors on offer include Babek Brothers, serving kebabs and halloumi fries; Honi Poké, delivering fresh bowls; spicy wonton dumplings from An Choi; and Smash Patty, a new burger concept from the team behind Patty & Bun. Cinco de Mayo, throughout London (all weekend)

Raise a margarita or three this weekend in honor of Cinco de Mayo, the annual Mexican celebration that commemorates the country’s victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1562. Casamigos – the premium tequila and mezcal brand founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman – has partnered with restaurants including the chic Coral Room in Bloomsbury and Argentian-themed Gaucho in the West End on a menu of tequila-fuelled cocktails, as well as launching a new month-long pop-up bar at Harvey Nichols. Ella Canta, the high-end Mexican restaurant within the InterContinental hotel on Park Lane, is also hosting a lively three-course brunch this Saturday and Sunday in honor of Cinco de Mayo, with flowing Don Julio tequila-charged cocktails and live DJs.

The leafy enclave will be transformed into a family-friendly British seaside extravaganza, replete with deck chairs, fairground rides, fish and chips and candy floss. As a nod to the May Fayre historically held in the square, there will also the opportunity to take part in maypole and Morris dancing, alongside craft activities for old and young alike.

Breakin’ Convention Hip Hop Festival at Sadler’s Wells, Clerkenwell (all weekend)

Breakin’ Convention returns to Sadler’s Wells and the Lilian Baylis Studio this May bank holiday weekend. The festival – now in its 16th year – showcases hip hop and theatre talent from all over the world. This year’s event focusses on homegrown UK talent, including London-based poppers Fiya House and A.I.M. Collective, alongside performances from critcally-acclaimed German dancer Rubberlegz, South Korean dance group, Jinjo Crew and UK hip hop artist, Godson.
