From classic Sunday lunch to pamper packages, here's how to spoil her rotten this Mother's Day
Looking to treat mum to something extra special this year? As you should be! Once you’ve got the perfect gift sorted (find plenty of inspiration here), it’s time to think of the day itself. Luckily London’s hotspots care about her just as much as you do, and there’s plenty to get stuck into when 30 March rolls around. Read on for our guide to celebrating Mother’s Day 2025 in style.
The Peninsula, Belgravia

The Peninsula is ensuring Mother’s Day is a seamless celebration thanks to its roster of experiences dedicated to the leading woman in your life. From 24-30 March, The Lobby will offer a special Mother’s Day afternoon tea, featuring a delectable selection of sweet and savoury treats, including delicate finger sandwiches, elegant desserts, freshly homemade scones, and a selection of warming teas. Little ones needn’t be left out either thanks to the newly launched Children’s Afternoon Tea, which has been designed to keep them thoroughly entertained.
Elsewhere on 30 March, the five-star hotel’s vibrant Cantonese restaurant, Canton Blue, will host a Chinese Tea Masterclass. Led by expert tea masters, expect to be immersed in China’s ancient tea traditions while sampling three elegant teas, each paired with dim sum, pastries, and traditional sweets. Plus, if you’ve left gifting to the last minute, head downstairs to The Lobby to discover Moyses Stevens floral cart where you can shop beautiful bouquets – but if she’s more of a foodie, order one of the chocolate bonbon boxes from The Peninsula London Boutique and Cafe. Job done.

The Kensington, South Kensington

A home away from home where she doesn’t have to lift a finger, afternoon tea at The Kensington offers a deliciously indulgent blend of style and comfort this Mother’s Day. On 29 and 30 March, the hotel will host the second instalment of its Live Illustrator Afternoon Tea Series with artist Niki Groom, where mothers and friends can have their picture-perfect portrait created while dining on afternoon tea. These complimentary portraits serve as a lasting memento, while the food menu also nods to the world’s most renowned artists with sweet treats inspired by Jackson Pollock, Yayoi Kusama and Alicja Kwade – as well as innovative libations such as the Girl with the Balloon cocktail inspired by Banksy.
Begin with a selection of delicate finger sandwiches, such as smoked salmon with lemon cream cheese, and pastrami with gherkin and horseradish before freshly baked scones served with homemade strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream. This is followed by the dramatic artistry of Pollock’s famous drip technique, reimagined as a dark chocolate mousse tart with passion fruit parfait, and then savour the whimsical spirit of Kusama’s polka-dot pumpkin, crafted from mango mousse and coconut yogurt cream. Delicious.
