Call your mum: her favourite 2000s sandal silhouette is back and it’s trendier than ever. With summer (hopefully) fast approaching, the wedge sandal is the silhouette to bookmark now. After two seasons of oscillating between trainers and sky-high heels, the return of wedges spells style with added comfort for SS24.

Unlike the clunky cork wedges of the early 2000s, designers are giving wedge sandals a fresh, fun upgrade this season. Think raffia, suede, festive colours, and even Cinderella-esque PVC heels. The sculptural heel is rendered in minimal iterations at brands such as St Agni and Khaite while Jimmy Choo and Aquazzura offer up metallic sandals that’ll look great peeking out from beneath wide-leg trousers. That’s not to say that cork versions aren’t enjoying an upgrade too, with brands such as Christian Louboutin and cult-favourite Castañer adding ankle tie details while Versace’s denim version will pair well with a classic jeans-and-white-tee combo.

Whichever style you lean towards, read on for our pick of the best wedge sandals to buy now and wear forever this time around.
