Diaries at the ready, it’s time to start planning your dream holiday

With hospitality projects that were put on hold during the pandemic finally coming to completion, it’s going to be a bumper year for new luxury hotels opening in 2024. Heavy hitters, such as the Waldorf, Rosewood, Conrad and Four Seasons hotel groups, will each see multiple new openings across the globe this year while there will also be plenty of unique, boutique and utterly decadent independent new stays to experience.

So where will everyone be heading? In the Middle East, Dubai’s already legendary hotel scene will see some seriously opulent new additions in 2024, with One&Only and The Lana (from The Dorchester Collection) leading the pack. Across the pond, meanwhile, Costa Rica is having a moment with exciting projects such as the Waldorf Astoria Cacique and Our Habitas Santa Teresa throwing open their doors this year.

Closer to home, Europe will see a staggering number of new luxury hotels opening in 2024 (at time of writing, 30 and counting), with classic destinations such as Barcelona, Rome and Nice remaining popular, alongside upscale new offerings in Manchester, Dublin and Madeira. So where to begin when planning your next high-end holiday? Here’s our guide to the new hotels to know about now.
