Sundance Film Festival at Picturehouse, Piccadilly (from Thursday)

The Sundance Film Festival heads to London’s Picturehouse Central this week to celebrate the independent film industry. Opening night features the much-anticipated European premiere of Late Night starring Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling. Other cinematic debuts this week include After the Wedding starring Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams and a documentary film on Apollo 11, featuring footage and audio that’s never been seen or heard before. ARDBEG Scottish-Caribbean Carnival in Regents Park (Saturday)

Ardbeg has placed Scotch whisky from ex-Bourbon casks in ex-rum casks from the Americas,to produce a new whisky with a Caribbean twist. To celebrate, the Scottish distillers are hosting a one-day carnival in Regents Park. Rocketman hits cinemas, throughout London (all week)

The story of Elton John’s spectacular career hits screens this summer. Starring Taron Egerton as the leading man, the biographical film depicts the star’s breakthrough, from his difficult childhood to worldwide stardom, with his iconic music as the backdrop. It documents his relationship with his manager, John Reid played by Richard Madden and the friendship with songwriter Bernie Taupin (Jamie Bell) that changed his life.
