Prada opens new Prada Caffè at Harrods

03 Apr 2023 | |By Zoe Gunn

The capital's latest foodie-fashion collaboration will be open until early 2024

Italian fashion house Prada has teamed up with luxury department store Harrods to open the Prada Caffè in Knightsbridge. The temporary space opened on 31 March 2023 and will welcome guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner and aperitivo until early 2024.

Inspired by Prada’s first Milanese boutique on Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and taking its design cues from the house’s aesthetic codes, the unquestionably chic space is decked out almost entirely in Prada’s signature mint-green hue, offset against a classic black-and-white chequered floor identical to that in the Milan store. Elsewhere, Regency-inflected green velvet chairs echo the period architecture of the department store and flank complementary black marble tables, while floral bas-reliefs mirror those seen in Prada’s flagship stores across the world.

Tableware, meanwhile, is exclusive to the Prada Caffè and takes the form of exquisite pale-blue Japanese porcelain inspired by ancient Celadon pottery. For aperitivo hour, hand-blown crystal glassware comes from Prada’s Triangle collection and features a riff on the brand’s famous triangular logo.

Which is all well and good – but what about the food? Open from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 6pm on Sunday, the Prada Caffè promises to be a chic breakfast spot, with fresh Italian coffee, freshly baked fagottini, eggs, salmon and even caviar on the menu. For a post-shopping pit stop, an extensive menu of classic sweet and savoury pastries and pralines will be available throughout the day (and for takeaway), with highlights including apricot sacher-torte, Gianduja chocolate cake and tomato, mozzarella and basil pizzette.

From midday, an elegant lunch and dinner menu promises fine Italian fare which puts a modern spin on the country’s famed culinary traditions. Expect starters of veal tonnato and burrata and zucchini before moving on to mains including ricotta and spinach cannelloni, saffron risotto and beef fillet with girolles and pistachio.

A carefully curated wine list features fine bottles spanning Italy’s famed vineyards, from Sicily to Piedmont, straying into France only for bottles of Krug and Billecart-Salmon champagne. The large cocktail menu, meanwhile, begins with classic serves before diverting into an offering of inventive signatures, such as the Tuscan Blossom (gin, elderflower, peach liqueur, lime, rosemary, soda and prosecco) and the Mediterraneo (gin, Rosolio di Bergamotto, mandarin juice and tonic).

Be warned, if similar ventures from the likes of Fendi and Loewe are anything to go by, tables will be hard to come by. Thankfully, they can now be booked via the Harrods website, while those not lucky enough to secure a table will be able to sample treats from a Prada ice cream stall that will arrive outside Harrods this summer.

Prada Caffè is open now, visit harrods.com for more information.
