It’s a wardrobe dilemma every woman will be familiar with. You’ve planned a great outfit but, standing in front of the mirror, something is missing. You need jewellery but it’s 7.30am on a Tuesday and you’re heading to the office. This is not a situation for diamonds, but subtle studs and delicate chains won’t cut it either. Step forward FOPE.

An acronym which translates from the Italian as Factory of Jewellery Precious Export, FOPE was founded in Vicenza in 1929 and now boasts boutiques and showrooms across the globe, including in Venice, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Lake Maggiore, as well as a flagship on London’s own Bond Street.

Over time its creations have evolved with changing fashions, while always keeping a quintessentially Italian sense of style and sophistication at their core and, of course, proudly making each and every piece in-house. Today its creations are clean and minimalist in silhouette, bold in design and all feature the house’s signature Novecento gold chain and unique Flex’It system. Debuted in 2007, this remarkable innovation in jewellery designs sees a tiny gold spring placed behind each link in FOPE’s jewellery, making them incredibly flexible and comfortable. The epitome of modern luxury.

So what should be on your wishlist? New for 2022 is the endlessly versatile Aria collection – a range of earrings and necklaces fashioned from an elegant 18 carat gold mesh chain and designed to offer a contemporary, sporty spin on classic fine jewellery. Every piece is available in white, yellow and rose gold, with both the drop earrings and lariat-style Y-shaped necklaces finished with diamond-set cylinders at either end, resembling the ropes and laces often found in athleisure wear.

And, just as with these practical items, each piece in the Aria collection can be worn in multiple ways. Wear the earrings long, short, looped or even as studs (the chain is removable), while the cylinders on the necklace can be moved up or down to adjust it to the perfect length for your look.

The diamond-setting on the Aria collection also represents an evolution for FOPE, which has this year introduced diamond-setting of the FOPE logo on its best-selling Eka, Solo, Vendôme, Panorama and Prima collections. “We took the opportunity to seize our DNA and show our personality by setting our FOPE logo into the design of these pieces and accenting the O of FOPE with a single diamond,” explains Product Development Manager Claudia Piaserico. The result is sparkle which is understated yet undeniably effective.

Also new for this year is the Luna collection. A bolder statement than the Aria range, this thoroughly 21st Century heavy mesh gold chain design is available as a selection of choker-style necklaces and bracelets. And, while this unisex range of white, yellow, rose gold pieces may look rigid at first glance, FOPE’s Flex’It technology means they drape and move with the contours of the body for the perfect fit every time.

Every FOPE collection is designed with mixing, matching and stacking in mind and nowhere is this more true than in its Essentials line. Launched in 2022 and created as a universal edit of pieces inspired by FOPE’s Novecento chain, and thus offering an ideal pairing for all of the house’s pieces, this year the range has been extended to include a series of bicoloured rings.

The same can be said for FOPE’s Must-Have bracelets. Another addition for 2022, the range comprises a series of gold bracelets in different designs and widths, each inspired by the stretchable bracelets that feature in the brand’s core collections. Accordingly, they’re perfect for pairing with pieces from across the house, with each finished with a plain gold rondel engraved with the FOPE logo and studded with a single diamond.

The mixed metal design, which sees each half of the ring rendered in a different 18 carat gold, means they can be worn in a huge variety of ways. Add to this a slim profile perfect for stacking and a flexible design which means they can be worn on different fingers and you have gorgeous pieces you’ll turn to time and time again.
