Two new luxury penthouses unveiled at Gasholders London, King’s Cross

Set in the heart of one of the capital’s coolest neighbourhoods, these two duplex penthouses, housed in a landmark Grade II-listed address, are curated to the highest standard, and offer a range of exclusive lifestyle amenities

Straddling the top floor of a former Victorian gasholder structure, two new duplex penthouses, known as the Skyward and Radial penthouses, have been unveiled at Gasholders London in King’s Cross. Each offers 2,800 square foot of contemporary living space, as well as private balconies and access to a resident only roof garden terrace. Boasting three and four bedrooms respectively, as well as an abundance of thoughtfully designed and impeccably executed entertaining space, those with the keys can also count on a 24-hour concierge service and state-of-the-art lifestyle amenities.

Originally built in 1879-1880 for the Imperial Gas Light & Coke Company, the interlinking gasholder structures of this famous Grade II-listed building were designed by engineer John Clark and built by Westwood and Wright. Symbolic of the Victorian industrial revolution, this unique development, now known as Gasholders London, is comprised of a series of circular, interlinked buildings which contain 145 modern apartments.

The flagship residential heritage building within the 67-acre King’s Cross estate, Gasholders London is home to 26 acres of open space and a pedestrian focused, traffic-free oasis, as well as multi-storey feature atriums and a scenic central courtyard.

Curated by Clerkenwell-based interior design practice Johnson Naylor, each of the two new penthouses possesses beautiful bedroom suites, with stunning feature staircases surmounted by glass skylights that connect the floors and lead to the private roof terraces above.

Both boast a large open plan living area on the upper level, spanning almost 60 feet, providing an impressive double reception room, dining area and media room, bordered by full-height glazing offering panoramic views of the London skyline. The remarkably light, bright and airy room leads onto a private covered balcony featuring folding perforated ‘brise soleil’ screens that can be opened to enjoy the sunshine throughout the British summer.

Also on this level, the customised kitchens are completely bespoke, with top-of-the-range appliances by Gaggenau and Miele. Located off the main living area with a separate utility room, the apartments are functional and practical as well as attractive.

The bedroom suites are to be found on the lower levels, along with a family bathroom and lounge area opening onto a second private balcony. If you like your tech, fear not: each penthouse comes with a home automation system, featuring integrated controls for lighting, home entertainment, comfort cooling and heating as well as blinds, shutters, and a bathroom warm wall. The comfort heating and cooling even includes thermostatically controlled under-floor heating and cooling across the living areas and bedrooms to keep things just as you like them.

Residents of the penthouses will also benefit from the exclusive lifestyle and leisure amenities available to Gasholders residents, including a luxurious spa with hydro pool, steam room, sauna, lounge area and changing suite, a ground floor meeting room, business lounge, and secure bicycle storage.

On the first floor of the building is a 14-seat screening room, games area with pool table and private dining room with adjoining chef’s kitchen, all of which can be booked for private entertaining. The first floor also features a residents’ only gym and exercise studio. Crowning Gasholders London is a residents’ only landscaped roof garden with lounge areas and flora, designed by acclaimed landscape architecture practice, Dan Pearson Studio.

Situated at the heart of King’s Cross, this creative neighbourhood is regularly rated as one of the best places to live in London, with Coal Drops Yard, and plenty of parks, squares, and gardens moments away. Indeed, residents will never be far from the action, day, or night.

Anthea Harries, Asset Management Director at King’s Cross, says: “King’s Cross is now unquestionably one of London’s most exciting and unique locations to live. At its heart is this inspirational building which perfectly mirrors the successful marriage of industrial past with a thriving urban future. With its iconic Grade II-listed structure, the residential building helps to create that all-important sense of ‘place’ that makes King’s Cross unique.
