The Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair returns to Battersea Park for its Spring 2019 edition, bringing together over 150 exhibitors from the UK and Europe under one lofty roof. This season’s foyer theme is A Room of Her Own, with a nod to Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury set. Browse and buy rare and collectible antique furniture, art, textiles and curious objects from exhibitors including Cabinet of Curiosities, Mark J West, The Games Room Company and Thurstan, the interiors business by former Soho House designer James Waterworth.

Another spring fair taking place this weekend is The London Artisan at Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. The covetable showcase brings together independent jewellers, ceramicists, textile designers and graphic artists, with a focus on sustainability and handcraftsmanship. We’re particularly looking forward to browsing natural skincare by MALĀKO and chic Jesmonite homewares by tipstudio.

Victoria Heald Gold Leaf Workshop, Southwark (Saturday)
Current artist in residence at Bankside Hotel, Victoria Heald, is hosting an intimate gold leafing masterclass for art-lovers of all abilities this Saturday. Following a brief talk by Heald, attendees will learn how to embellish art using gilding paste. 100% of the profits raised will be donated to David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Juliet and Romeo, the latest creation by The Lost Dog Company, tells the alternative story of Shakespeare’s iconic couple had they not died but been married instead. Through dance, theatre and comedy, the production shows the famous couple living a not so happily-ever-after life, trying to escape the fame and misfortunes that come with being a poster couple for love.

Becoming: An Intimate Conversation With Michelle Obama at the 02, North Greenwich (Sunday)
There are still tickets available to see First Lady Michelle Obama at the O2. Following a sold-out-in-minutes event at the Southbank Centre, Mrs Obama returns to London to discuss her memoir Becoming, detailing the events and experiences that have shaped her life; from her childhood on the South-side of Chicago, to the demands of motherhood and work, to her famous years in the White House as the first African-American First Lady in history.

Toast by Nigel Slater, Westminster (all weekend)
Nigel Slater’s 2003 award-winning memoir, Toast, touchingly details the chef’s childhood and culinary memories following the death of his mother, set against a backdrop of 1960s suburban England. The memoir was made into a TV film in 2010, starring Helen Bonham Carter and Ken Stott, and more recently adapted for stage in 2018 by Henry Filloux-Bennett. Following a sell-out run at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Toast debuts this weekend in the West End, portraying Nigel’s evocative coming-of-age story through scent and taste.

Kicking off a monthly residency, the traveling karaoke club is taking over the Tate Modern’s Terrace Bar for a night of Kanye, Tupac and A$AP.
