From bespoke furniture specialists to fabulous accessories for a quick pick-me-up, here’s where to get your interior design fix in the capital

With social media tom peepery pressuring us to ensure every aspect of our lives is curated down to the smallest detail, the demand for picture perfect interiors has never been stronger. From Marylebone to Sloane Square, Pimlico to Islington, every London shopping destination worth its weight in rattan has a flagship design store. We’ve rounded up some of the best interior design boutiques in London, whether you’re looking to make a house a home, or just need the perfect homeware gift.

The Conran Shop, Chelsea

conran shop london

An icon on the London interiors scene, this famous British design brand was founded in 1973 by Sir Terence Conran. The debut Conran Shop opened in Marylebone in 1997 but was replaced by an impressive new flagship store in Chelsea last year – and boy does it deliver. A mosaic by artist Charlie Sheppard acts as a focal point for the curated space, while plush soft furnishings, stop-and-stare artworks and ergonomic centrepieces pepper the floor throughout. You’ll also find a great selection of homeware, from crockery and serving dishes to vases, mirrors, baskets, throws and lamps. We’ll take an arbor three-seater and a large green scallop vase, please.

Known for its slightly rumpled, lived-in charm, the Caravane aesthetic is authentic, laidback, and cosy. From custom-made centrepiece sofas to rustic tables, woven kitchen stools to beautiful, arty table centrepieces, we’d be hard-pressed to pick just one of the 57 shades from the stunning Selena bed linen range. Caravane house has made its way to London, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux, Aix en Provence and Copenhagen, always in the same image of the very first boutique located in the Marais neighbourhood of Paris.

Soho Home, Chelsea

If the Soho House look is your dream décor, you can make it your own with this one stop shop from the team that dresses each of Soho House’s locations. Bathroom collections feature three ranges inspired by guest favourites from around the world, including vanity units, mirrors, lighting and accessories, while other flagship pieces are handpicked from the boujis global properties. Choose the classic swoop fronted Valerie vanity range, which echoes the vintage furniture found throughout the original 1940s wing in Soho House Paris, or a Lusso range accent mirror, lamp or towel, which reflect the rustic charm of Soho Farmhouse. Soho Home also offers design services from £300, with a complimentary consultation to get you started.

You’ll also find a few icons within the vintage range, such as Hans Wegner’s 1960 Ox chair and stool; a Bruno Mathsson 1936 Annika table; and a Sixties' Robert Heritage cabinet.

Graham & Greene, Primrose Hill, Notting Hill and Bayswater

Fun, fanciful, colourful and quirky, this independent family-run company loves to share the fruits of its country-hopping labours. Travel tidbits and table talking points abound in the brand’s famously animal-inspired home furnishings, from hare, monkey and gold mice table lamps to extra-large fish-mouth gluggle jugs and snuggly cow hide rugs. The Primrose Hill store is a high street institution, perfectly offset by the area’s multi-coloured house fronts and bohemian, my-dog-just-malted-all-over-this vibe.
