Alessandra Rich’s shoulder-skimming Crystal Heart Earrings first came to our attention back in November 2017, when model and DJ Harley Viera-Newton wore a pair to her wedding evening reception, coolly paired with a Valentino dress. And thus so began our obsession, and their ascent to cult status, as the likes of Araya Hargate, Caroline Daur and Net-a-porter fashion director Lisa Aiken adopted the playful, sparkle-loaded style.

Alessandra Rich debuted the crystal encrusted clip-on design at her Spring/Summer 2018 salon show. The Italian born, London-based designer is known for her vintage-inspired, opulent eveningwear but in recent seasons, her bold and contemporary accessories have become renowned in their own right, transitioning Rich’s appeal from red carpet to street style.

Why do we love them so much? They are equal parts fun and glamourous, infused with exuberant eighties gusto. These hypnotic hanging hearts yield the power to completely transform an outfit, from stuffy to sexy; humdrum to head-turning, all with the shake of a bejewelled lobe.

Alessandra’s ear-candy has inspired a slew of copies, while remaining irrepressible on social media. She has since expanded her heart-shaped repertoire to also include belts, most recently worn by Emma Louise Connelly to Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

While each punchy pair undoubtedly adds a chic finishing touch to eveningwear, they also brilliantly elevate chunky knitwear or a plain tee. Throw on with denim and a tousled bun this winter for a welcome dose of insouciant glamour.
