Klimt/Schiele: Drawings exhibition, Mayfair (all weekend)

To mark the centenary of the death of two of Vienna’s greatest artists, The Royal Academy of Arts has collaborated with the Albertina Museum to showcase the Klimt/Schiele: Drawings exhibition. The enthralling and intimate new showcase contains some of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele’s greatest works, alongside rare studies, and will be available to view for a limited period of three months.

Remembrance Day (Sunday)

This Sunday, the country will come together to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War. As always, there will be a two-minute silence to observe the fallen and events will be held up and down London to observe this landmark date. This includes the one-of-a-kind Remembrance Art Trail (the only one in the UK) in Canary Wharf, taking place until 11 November. The art trail, in association with the Royal British Legion, showcases the artwork of Mark Humphrey, which honours the armed forces. Also in London, the ROH Remembers festival at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and present artistic responses to World War I, including ballet and opera performances.

Wine Dinner at Tate Britain, Westminster (Saturday)

Back by popular demand, the Tate Britain is hosting Matthew Jukes’ 100 Best Australian Wines this weekend. Throughout the evening, guests can sample a diverse selection of the very best Australian wines, chosen by critic and writer Matthew Jukes. The evening also serves as an opportunity to view Tate Britain’s latest exhibition of Pre-Raphaelite paintings by Edward Burne-Jones and will be followed by an optional three-course dinner with wine accompaniments at the gallery’s award-winning Rex Whistler restaurant.

FIDE World Chess Championship, Holborn (All Weekend)

The FIDE World Chess Championship kicks off in London this weekend. The special event will begin with a red carpet event at the V&A on Friday followed by a 12-game match at The College in Holborn, watched by thousands.
