Mad about pearls? Us too. Not only does the delicate, natural jewel make for the perfect statement sparkler, but innovative artists have been known to use pearls to create bespoke works of art. One house that knows a thing or two about this Japanese high jewellery brand and pearl expert Tasaki. This month its elegant New Bond Street boutique will be home to a new pearly-white art exhibition, Pure Radiancy, and you’re invited to the opening night.

Launching on 8 June, the exhibition has been created in collaboration with artist Hiroko Nakakita, who has used sustainably-grown Akoya pearls to create a series of very special works of art. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale The Little Mermaid – which has recently been revived into a new live-action movie by Disney – the exhibition tells the story of the love of a mermaid princess who is as pure and unique as a pearl. Highlights include Crown of Lilies in which pearls, nurtured by Tasaki, are used to form three-dimensional images. Elsewhere, the kimono-like Robe expresses Nakakita’s Japanese take on the fantasy world.

Sound like your kind of art exhibition? Prior to the official opening, Tasaki will be hosting an exclusive private view and cocktail party on 7 June to celebrate – and they want you to join them. Here, you’ll be granted an exclusive look into Nakakita’s world before it opens to the public. But be quick, there are only 20 spaces available and the event is first come, first served so attendees keen to join the preview must sign up here by 4 June.
