Corinthia London
When it comes to luxurious stays in the capital few boast quite the benefits of Corinthia London. Offering expansive views over the Thames and a stone’s throw from Westminster’s seat of political power, it is also a hop, skip and jump from the buzzing nightlife of Soho and the high-end boutiques of Mayfair. Still need convincing that this is the perfect spot for your summer staycation? It also promises to deliver some of the most enticing experiences in the capital during what is guaranteed to be a very special season.
Because, of course, summer 2022 is not only the first proper season of sunshine post-pandemic, it is also one that will play host to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. London is about to come alive with regal pomp and ceremony and guests at the Corinthia London will be privy to a front-row seat.
For the full VIP treatment, book the hotel’s A Royal Experience stay, which promises to help guests enjoy the celebrations in a manner fit for a queen or king. Available from 1-11 June 2022, the Royal treatment begins before you even enter the doors, with guests collected and brought to the Corinthia in a Rolls Royce.
You’ll then be shown to your lavish penthouse suite where afternoon tea will be served by your very own private butler. This quintessentially British experience will feature delicacies including Jubilee finger sandwiches adorned with caviar and gold leaf, classic scones with strawberry jam and Devon clotted cream and delicate pastries, all accompanied by rare Canton tea blended exclusively for the Corinthia London and a bottle of vintage Krug champagne.
The gastronomic delights continue with cocktails and canapes served on your private terrace. Those lucky enough to secure a suite on 2 June will enjoy unrivalled views of the Trooping the Colour flypast by the Red Arrows (but the vista is pretty spectacular even if you don’t).
After all the excitement, an afternoon spent in the Corinthia’s ESPA wellness centre is called for. Its award-winning ESPA Life team will prepare a serene private treatment room for your choice of rejuvenating massage, while the facilities of the four-storey spa, including a gym, Daniel Galvin hair salon, nail bar, swimming pool, sauna, ice fountain and sleep pods, are yours to peruse as you wish.
Dinner, meanwhile, promises to be the ultimate fine dining experience. Take a seat in your own private dining room to sample a banquet of delectable dishes, including those devised by star chefs Tom Kerridge and Nick Beardshaw for the BBC television programme The Great British Menu. End the evening on your private terrace, taking in the twinkling lights of the city while enjoying a midnight nightcap, before retiring to the luxe linens of your king-size Hypnos bed.
Continue the celebrations with a champagne breakfast in bed before enjoying some time at leisure while your butler prepares Brompton Bikes for a Royal tour of London. An expert in all things regal will guide you through some of the capital’s most famous Royal monuments and hotspots, many of which will feature in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, telling you the fascinating history behind these iconic landmarks. Not confident on two wheels? A walking tour is also available.
Finally, a late check-out means there’s plenty of time to enjoy one final relaxing lunch on your private terrace. All guests will also be gifted a hamper full of luxurious treats and mementos of this very special Royal stay.
If one night doesn’t sound like quite enough time to experience everything London has to offer this summer, guests are, of course, invited to extend their stay. In fact, we would recommend doing so just to give yourself time for a long lunch or decadent dinner at Corinthia London’s The Garden restaurant.
Tucked away in the hotel courtyard, and decked out for summer in an explosion of colourful flora and decor evocative of the Italian coast, this is undoubtedly one of London’s greatest al fresco dining experiences. Serving a recently refreshed seasonal menu inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean, start with a light sea bream ceviche or truffle, anchovy and artichoke pizzette before indulging in main courses of grilled octopus, lobster macaroni and cacio e pepe. And for dessert? Gelato is always a good idea – ours is an Amalfi lemon sorbet.
