With Christmas fast approaching, it’s not just Portman Marylebone’s independent retail boutiques that have gotten into the festive spirit. While the coming weeks will see a host of the area’s unique stores stay open until late to host special in-store events, the neighbourhood’s diverse range of hotels are also putting on a show. 

From the celebrity bolthole that is the Chiltern Firehouse to the Bridgerton-grade splendour of Home Grown, and from uber-contemporary Nobu Hotel to the eccentric Zetter Townhouse, Portman Marylebone’s hotels are inviting guests to make the most of the capital from a base within one of the city’s most colourful communities.

We’ve rounded up some of the most exciting festive offerings from the best hotels in the area, from sumptuous menus and special stay packages, to Christmas cocktails and where you can eat turkey with all the trimmings on the big day.   

Home Grown

Situated across four stunning Georgian townhouses, Home Grown feels like a setting from a Richard Curtis film at the best of times – so you can imagine how Christmassy it gets towards the end of the year. The hotel only has 35 bedrooms, so it will often feel as though you’ve got the entire place all to yourself.

This Christmas, a range of menus bring together the traditional and the contemporary, using locally-sourced ingredients where possible. Set menus include a three-course meal featuring seasonal delights such as roasted Norfolk turkey, smoked ham hock and poached halibut, as well as an assortment of desserts with tailor-made wine pairings available. Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill

In the run-up to Christmas, the Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill is inviting guests to celebrate the season with an enchanting array of feasts, glittering cocktails and a spectacular New Year’s Eve party. Guests can enjoy specially-curated menus at The Montagu Kitchen and expertly-created cocktails at The Churchill Bar & Terrace. Special events include a singalong with the London Oratory School Chamber Choir on 14 December, and Festive Afternoon Tea served every Thursday, Friday and Saturday during December, from 2pm to 5pm. On Christmas Day itself, guests can celebrate the most magical day of the year with a spectacular Christmas Day Grande Brunch.

Nobu Hotel London Portman Square

At Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, Nobu’s award-winning cuisine fuses with timelessly elegant interiors and contemporary furnishings. The Prince Akatoki

Marylebone’s The Prince Akatoki hotel, named after the ancient Japanese word for sunrise, boasts 82 individually-designed guestrooms, which showcase opulent fabrics and hand-printed wallpapers. This festive period, as part of the hotel’s Shinnen offer, guests who stay for two nights will receive a complimentary lunch at Tokii, as well as a winter box full of luxurious amenities. Expect Origami, vegan candles, sparkling sake, and other special surprises. A Japanese breakfast is also included. The hotel’s Christmas Day menu (£95) includes truffle tortellini, roast Norfolk turkey with all the trimmings, and, of course, Christmas pudding with vanilla and brandy sauce.

The Zetter Townhouse

This festive period, The Zetter Townhouse Marylebone is offering guests 20 per cent off two-night stays, and 30 per cent off three-night stays. Set in a Georgian townhouse on Seymour Street, with a characterful cocktail lounge at its heart, the Marylebone outpost is the second addition to the independently-owned Zetter Group’s ‘Townhouse’ boutique hotel family. It’s home to just 24 bedrooms, each as quirky as the cocktail lounge below. If you’re a fan of innovative cocktails, you’ll be pleased to learn that Zetter’s bar manager, Gregorio Soriente, has created a special drinks menu just for the hotel.

The Grazing Goat

A country pub on quaint New Quebec Street in the heart of Marylebone, The Grazing Goat serves hearty food and premium drinks from breakfast through to dinner. On the top two floors above the pub, you’ll find eight boutique bedrooms equipped with all the necessities – a comfy double bed, en-suite bathroom, and luxury amenities by 100 Acres. Durrants Hotel

Oxford Street and Bond Street are both within walking distance of Durrants Hotel, but Marylebone’s eclectic collection of boutiques are even closer, with the independent stores on Chiltern Street just minutes from the hotel. Chiltern Firehouse

One of the first purpose-built fire stations in London, Marylebone Fire Station, or Manchester Square Fire Station as it was known, was completed in 1889, in the Tudor-Gothic style. Meaning that when André Balazs transformed it into his first hotel in Britain, the American hotelier inherited a gorgeous building of red bricks and ornate stone dressings. Interiors are by renown Paris-based Studio KO, while the kitchen is overseen by celebrated Portuguese chef, Nuno Mendes.
