Contemporary and bold in design, FOPE jewellery balances glamour with everyday wearability

FOPE was founded in 1929 by Umberto Cazzola as a small goldsmith workshop in Vicenza with just 20 employees. The family-run Italian Maison is now considered one of Italy’s most revered jewellery houses, but has remained largely under the radar in the UK until now. This year, the jeweller marks its 90th anniversary with a debut flagship boutique on Old Bond Street in Mayfair, created in partnership with The Watches of Switzerland Group.

FOPE is the original purveyor of flexible, woven gold, which has become a trademark feature of all of its jewellery collections. The brand’s ergonomic Flex’it stretchable mesh moulds to your body for the perfect fit: a diamond bracelet slips on with the ease of a hair tie, while chunky chains and rings are surprisingly lightweight, available in white, yellow or rose gold.

The intimate new salon has been designed by Italian architect Flavio Albanese, founder of ASA Studio, in a refined aquamarine palette. It is FOPE’s only standalone boutique outside of Venice and houses an array of exclusive products, including the distinctive LadyFope timepieces. Diamonds shine on the dial, bezel and bracelet, which has of course been crafted with FOPE’s famous Flex’it system – thus allowing wearers to feel ultimate comfort as no clasp is required. Consider it the most effortlessly opulent way to add polish to any ensemble.
