Inside Michael Kors’ New Mayfair Boutique On Old Bond Street
: Michael Kors unveils The Townhouse, a first-of-its-kind concept boutique in Mayfair
Kate Moss, Gemma Chan, Naomie Harris and Jourdan Dunn were among the phalanx of celebrities that gathered in London this month to fête the launch of The Townhouse, a six-storey Michael Kors mecca on Old Bond Street. The concept store is the first of its kind in Europe, exclusively showcasing the Michael Kors Collection line, spanning ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, as well as a VIP salon on the third floor.
Set within a Georgian townhouse, the supersized space draws influence from Kors’ own private homes. Soothing cool Calacatta marble and maple wood emulate his honey-hued penthouse in Greenwich Village, New York, while fluffy shearling and leather furnishings are reminiscent of his laidback beach house in Long Island, Florida. Original Georgian features, from fireplaces to the classical façade, have been deliberately preserved to ensure that the building retains a decidedly British feel.
The boutique allows customers to place special orders on eveningwear and shop exclusive products. The private cocktail party was followed by a seated dinner at Beck at Brown’s, the wood-panelled restaurant within Brown’s Hotel. Scroll on for our gallery of guests, dressed in Kors, of course.
