To celebrate a century of Gucci, the fashion superbrand has partnered with The Savoy to redesign the iconic Royal Suite with Alessandro Michele's signature maximalist aesthetic

2021 marks 100 years since the fashion behemoth that is Gucci came to be. Founded in Florence, it originally specialised in leather luggage – Guccio Gucci was inspired by the guests he encountered while working at The Savoy as a luggage porter and lift boy before founding his eponymous brand.

A century later, Gucci and The Savoy have crossed paths once more. In a full-circle moment, Gucci is transforming The Savoy’s Royal Suite with furniture, furnishings, and decorative items from the Gucci Décor collection. Auctioneers Christie’s is contributing art and antiquities, all carefully selected to complement the Gucci universe. Earlier this year, Gucci also unveiled its Aria Collection during a private screening at The Savoy in April.

All Gucci and Christie’s items are available for purchase, making the Royal Suite into a sort of sumptuous showroom – for those not familiar with the Suite, it is by far one of the most luxurious in London, with its parade of rooms spanning the length of the fifth floor and unrivaled views over The Thames.

Those lucky enough to claim this offering will enjoy the services of a dedicated butler, use of The Savoy’s Rolls Royce within a three-mile radius, bespoke in-room amenities, and ‘Gucci experiences’ – we’re not sure what that means, but it sounds exciting.
