Rixo opens first bridal boutique at new Chelsea flagship

12 Apr 2023 | |By Zoe Gunn

The ‘House of Rixo’ will bring all the brand’s collections under one roof for the very first time

Since launching in 2021, the vintage-inspired bridal line from London fashion brand, Rixo, has become a favourite among brides looking for chic second looks, out-of-the-ordinary ceremony gowns and bridesmaids’ dresses their friends will actually like. Now the brand is taking that success to the next level with its first dedicated London bridal boutique.

Situated within the new 5,000 sq ft ‘House of Rixo’, which opens on 12 April 2023 on the Kings Road in Chelsea, the bridal suite will be available for private appointments and exclusive hire and will offer Rixo’s full complement of wedding dresses, bridesmaid styles and bridal accessories.

Designed by Cupla, the interiors firm owned by Gemma McCloskey (twin sister of Rixo co-founder Orlagh McCloskey), the space is decked out in bespoke hand-painted De Gourney wallpaper and elegant Dedar curtains to create a feeling of intimacy and privacy away from the rest of the store. Furniture, meanwhile, has been hand-sourced from antique fairs in Italy – so don’t be surprised if you leave your appointment with a few new ideas for your home as well.

Alongside the new bridal boutique, Rixo will also launch its first in-house alterations service for ready-to-wear, bridal and bridesmaids gowns, along with a series of new additions to its wedding collection. Two fresh ceremony styles – Eve and Axel – offer a choice between a statement bow-front halter neck with full skirt or delicate lace-trimmed silk gown while, for party time, sequins, feathers and thigh-high slits can be found in abundance.

Rixo’s bridesmaid line has also been expanded for the 2023 wedding season, with popular mainline design Abi being reworked for the occasion in a flattering navy polka dot. Also joining the line up is Clarice: a version of the gowns designed for Orlagh McCloskey’s own bridesmaids and offered in a feminine vintage daisy print.

The opening of Rixo’s Chelsea flagship will also see a host of new offerings to non-bridal clients. The store will be home to Rixo Re-Loved – a new initiative allowing customers to exchange worn Rixo pieces for a voucher to spend on a new item. The pre-loved items will then be refreshed and offered to other customers at a lower price point. Elsewhere, the flagship will be home to ‘True Vintage’, an edit of one-off pieces curated by Rixo founders Orlagh and Henrietta, encompassing clothing, jewellery and accessories from accessible brands as well as high-end designer labels.

In need of refreshment? A Rixo coffee kiosk will offer hot drinks and pastries, while the store will also house the first West London location from family-run restaurant group the Kudu Collective. The Smokey Kudu Bar will take the form of a sophisticated cocktail bar, offering signature serves alongside wine, beer and champagne.

After all, you’re going to need somewhere to raise a toast after finding the perfect dress for your big day…
