The Other Art Fair

From fashion to art, London has always been a fantastic launchpad for emerging creatives. And, while appreciating a Cezanne at The National Gallery or a Lichtenstein at the Tate Modern is always fulfilling, discovering a young artist on the ascendant is far more exciting for collectors who love the thrill of the chase. Good news, then, that Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair is returning to East London for another weekend celebrating emerging talent.

Hosted at the Truman Brewery from 7-10 March 2024, The Other Art Fair reframes the narrative around art by bringing a vast array of independent artists together under one roof. From oil paintings to photography, the fair offers media forms to appeal to every taste, while a mix of interactive experiences, installations, performances, music, and even a wine bar add to the fair’s immersive ambience.

Originally from Yorkshire, London-based Kit Lintin’s work is a masterclass in magical realism. Drawing from still-life techniques, she infuses paintings of mundane objects with playful surrealism, working with oil paint on canvas to create compositions that bring depth to everyday objects. Take her Nocellara Palm painting, for instance, which focuses on a plate of olives placed on an expansive tiled floor that leaves the viewer wondering what lies just beyond the reach of the canvas, and will surely be an interesting addition to a dining room.

She recently won the Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize for her piece Flowers – a wonderful example of Gilson’s aesthetic. The piece explores womanhood through traditionally domestic objects rendered in a bold colour palette with intricate details. Gilson also works commercially, selling prints through retailers such as Ikea and Anthropologie.
