Advent calendar: Win afternoon tea for two at the Pan Pacific London

Christmas is a time of good cheer, getting together and treating yourself after a long productive year – and what could be more indulgent than a grand afternoon tea at one of London’s top luxury hotels?

And, while the capital isn’t short on fine options for the most decadent meal of the day, the Pan Pacific London does things a little differently. In celebration of both the hotel group’s Singaporean roots, and that of Pan Pacific London’s Executive Pastry Chef Cherish Finden, the hotel’s Kopi Tiam afternoon tea features options far more diverse than just cucumber sandwiches and scones.

Inspired by the strong culture of coffee shops in Singapore, as well as unique holiday traditions from around the globe, this Christmas the Pan Pacific London has introduced a festive afternoon tea like no other. Among its many courses are Asian savouries, including mushroom bao, mini dim sum and BBQ pork Char Siu Soi, as well as matcha scones with kaya jam and seaweed sesame shortbread with soya sauce caramel. (If you’re dining with a traditionalist, a classic afternoon tea featuring finger sandwiches is also available.)

The stars of the show, however, are a range of delicate patisserie so intricate and colourful as if to look like art. Each inspired by a different aspect of Christmas, highlights include A Gift from Santa (spicy clementine mousse with citrus peel Victoria sponge) and Christmas Tree (pistachio mousse, financier and sour cherry compote).
