The sartorial meeting of minds will serve as some much-needed motivation for home exercising

Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop knows how to get tongues wagging: yoni eggs, vagina-scented candles, a Netflix documentary in which the entire team take mushrooms… But it’s latest collaboration is causing excited chatter for a less controversial reason: the e-tailer has unveiled its first ever activewear collection in partnership with British fashion house Proenza Schouler.

G.Sport X Proenza Schouler, a limited edition collection of seven activewear staples, combines 90s silhouettes with modern technical fabrics in a strong colour palette of red, black and white. Mesh-layered sports bras, contoured, chafe-proof leggings, simple T-shirts and cherry red bodysuits make up the collection, along with two everyday pieces — a jumpsuit and a windbreaker jacket. Clever cut-out detailing on T-shirts and bodysuits signifies Proenza Schouler’s influence, a subtle-yet-stylish update to otherwise simple silhouettes.

“Tapping [Proenza Schouler founders] Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s relentless creativity and street-smart aesthetic brought an entirely new, cutting-edge feel to our G. Sport world,” Gwyneth Paltrow said. “And the fact that this was their first go at a sporting collection made the collaboration feel even more special—I think the pieces truly speak for themselves.”

Not to be deterred by coronavirus, Paltrow and her team chose to preserver with the scheduled launch, sighting the current climate as the perfect time for people to focus on wellness. Wear now for at-home yoga sessions and to the gym in a post-social-distancing world.
