The Runway Afternoon Tea at The Coral Room
If you consider yourself a fan of The Devil Wears Prada *and* are a tea-drinking, cake-indulging foodie, don’t miss afternoon tea at The Coral Room. Stepping inside the glamorous 1920s-style space – think chandeliers, coral-splashed walls and a decadent marble bar – you’ll be greeted with a delicious, playful menu inspired by the comedy-drama-come-musical sensation.
The Runway afternoon tea includes a selection of refined finger sandwiches to start, including cucumber and crème fraîche campillous and smoked salmon rillette sub rolls, followed by beautifully light buttermilk and sultana scones, accompanied by Cornish clotted cream and homemade plum jam. The real showstoppers, though, are the patisserie which combine haute couture style with fabulous flavours to create a delicious selection of sweet treats that are skillfully designed to nod to different famous moments in the musical.
Try the ‘No foam skimmed latte with an extra shot’ (a hazelnut opera cake with coffee and caramel), the ‘Everybody wants this’ red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and ‘A single cube of cheese’ New York cheesecake. The star of the show, of course, is the iconic ‘Lumpy blue sweater’, made from speculoos sable biscuit with dulce de leche. That’s all.
The Runway Afternoon Tea is priced at £55 per person, or £70 per person with a glass of champagne.
Post-show cocktails at The Bloomsbury Club Bar
For a post-show tipple before bedding down, head to The Bloomsbury Club Bar for a late-night cocktail in a chic setting. Designed in a speakeasy style, the bar is as intimate and cosy as it is bold and sophisticated. Prop yourself atop a stool at the bar, or nestle into one of the sofas, and enjoy a selection of drinks that will entice all the senses. The new ‘Egypt’ menu boasts mixologies including Anubis (God of the Dead) – a dark, sharp concoction of cognac, Amaro Nardini, dates and cardamom bitters – and Se Shen – a light and floral mix of gin, berries, hibiscus and rose soda. Open until 1am, with live jazz bringing a laidback, vibey ambience, stay up for a nightcap to remember.
