The luxurious London hotels opening in 2026

08 Jan 2026 | | By Annie Lewis

Where to see and be seen in the capital this year

You might think that, with more than 75 five-star hotels (and counting) already in situ, London would be lacking space to host any more. Ever enterprising hoteliers, however, are proving that certainly is not the case, as 2026 will see an array of new luxury hotel openings across the city, spanning Mayfair to Shepherd’s Bush.

This year will also see a slew of big name debuts, including Waldorf Astoria taking on one of the capital’s biggest historic monuments – Admiralty Arch, which was commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother Queen Victoria, no less – as well as the St Regis moving into Mayfair and the Six Senses finally opening its doors after years of teasing its Bayswater behemoth. Here are the most luxurious London hotels opening in 2026.

The Newman, Fitzrovia

The Newman has been thoughtfully created by a team of like-minded hoteliers and restaurateurs, who have spent decades working at London stalwarts including The Standard, The Beaumont and The Goring – so expectations are high. Collectively spearheaded by Kinsfolk & Co, the hotel is the brainchild of London-based studio Lind + Almond, which has taken design cues from the charm and character of Fitzrovia. Case in point, designers looked to the area’s inspiring former residents, such as Nancy Cunard, once Fitzrovia’s bohemian queen; her iconic bangles and polka dots subtly permeate the interiors.

Featuring 81 spacious, Art Deco-style rooms, suites, and apartments, some with private balconies, don’t miss the rooftop Penthouse Suite, which comes with its own terrace, sauna and ice plunge – and, when taken as a whole, offers exclusive use of the floor as a beautifully appointed and spacious four-bedroom suite. Elsewhere, indulge at all-day restaurant Brasserie Angelica and Gambit Bar, which will serve unique cocktails and host a dynamic events programme ranging from DJ nights to regular chess events.

Wellness at The Newman embraces Nordic simplicity, with the spa housing a medical-grade halotherapy room, an ice lounge, Finnish sauna and steam room for contrast therapy rituals, multi-sensory experience showers and a hydrotherapy plunge pool. Plus, with a treatment menu devised by Scandinavian clean beauty brand Nuori – marking its London hotel debut – alongside natural skincare brand Moss of the Isles and science-led CBD brand Kloris. Want to be the first in? Don’t miss The Newman’s exclusive opening offer available until 30 April 2026, which includes a complimentary welcome drink at Gambit Bar and £100 credit to spend at the brasserie, bar or spa when you book a room, or £200 credit when you book a suite.

The Derby, The City

Inspired by the timeless silhouette of the bowler hat, affectionately known as a ‘derby’, this new Hilton hotel pays homage to the elegance, ambition, and craftsmanship that shaped London into a global powerhouse. With 234 contemporary rooms, including 15 signature suites offering panoramic views of The City skyline, The Derby is perfectly positioned on Great Tower Street, just moments from the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, and eight tube stations.

Inside, guests will be greeted by the Treasury Wall – a bespoke installation that nods to the financial history of the district – and at 5.10pm everyday, The Derby will host the Golden Hour, a spirited ritual named after its address (5-10 Great Tower Street), featuring a signature cocktail that celebrates the character of the day. At the heart of the hotel is Rycrofte’s, a bold new dining destination inspired by Sir John Rycrofte, Sergeant of the Larder to Henry VII and Henry VIII. Additional amenities include a 24-hour gym and curated experiences such as Mercer’s Market: a monthly celebration of local artists and artisans, honouring the legacy of Sir Robert Tate and London’s vibrant trade scene.

Following a complete transformation, the former K West Hotel will reopen in February 2026 as Hotel Indigo K West, part of IHG Hotels. Once home to the BBC’s Kensington House recording studios, the building’s design will pay homage to its rich musical heritage, where legends including David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley once recorded. Inside, the hotel will feature 231 spacious bedrooms, a restaurant with an open kitchen, a neighbourhood bar, and an urban spa rooted in wellbeing. Positioned just moments from O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Bush Hall, BBC Television Studios, and Westfield, this is a must-visit.

The Zetter, Bloomsbury

Occupying six interconnecting Georgian townhouses near Russell Square, and a stone’s throw from the British Museum, The Zetter’s new Bloomsbury hotel is a 68-bedroom property designed by award-winning interiors guru James Thurstan Waterworth. Having trained under Martin Brudnizki, and later shaping Soho House’s distinctive style as its European design director, expect seriously Instagrammable interiors featuring antique finds, vintage lighting and rich textiles.

Bedrooms range from characterful wood-panelled Cosy rooms, to grander suites such as the Terrace suite, complete with a four-poster bed, claw-foot bath beneath bay windows and a large terrace overlooking the garden. Downstairs, The Parlour sits at the heart of the hotel and serves light refreshments and cocktails throughout the day, while The Orangery houses the property’s main dining space. Bathed in natural light within leafy surroundings, it provides an elegant setting for breakfast, aperitifs and small plates and, during the summer months, extends outdoors to a dedicated barbecue area. See you there in spring.

Six Senses London, Bayswater

Six Senses’ London outpost has been slated to open for years – but 2026 looks like it could be the real deal. Set within The Whiteley in Bayswater, the restored Grade II-listed landmark has been reimagined by Foster + Partners to house 109 guest rooms and suites, many with private terraces, and 14 branded residences. Don’t miss Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café which will bring a spirited, modern approach to neighbourhood dining; inspired by William Whiteley’s original spirit of innovation, it celebrates simple pleasures.

Six Senses Spa will span a whopping 25,000 square feet on a single floor, combining pioneering recovery methods with ancient healing practices brought to life at the Alchemy Bar and longevity medical clinic. The spa will feature London’s first magnesium pool within a hotel, a flotation pod and cryotherapy chamber, along with movement studios and personalised programmes designed to restore balance and vitality. The hotel will also introduce the brand’s first private members’ club, Six Senses Place, and applications are open now. You heard it here first.

Waldorf Astoria Admiralty Arch, The Mall

The Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch will debut as one of London's most talked-about luxury hotels in 2026. The gentrification of historic spaces has become something of a trend in the capital (see: Raffles launching in the former Old War Office in Whitehall) and we’re sure Waldorf Astoria’s inaugural London hotel won’t disappoint.

Commanding a prestigious position at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, the hotel will feature 100 elegantly designed rooms and suites, alongside several residences. Hilton, in partnership with Reuben Brothers, has meticulously restored the Grade I-listed monument – originally commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother Queen Victoria and designed by Sir Aston Webb, who also worked on the façade of Buckingham Palace – which was completed in 1912.

Culinary direction will come from Michelin-starred chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud, while a world-class spa, promising a curated selection of treatments, wellness programmes and state-of-the-art fitness facilities, completes the offering. We’ll bring you news on what else is in store as we get it.

Opening date: Spring 2026
Room rate: TBC

Cambridge House, Mayfair

The former In and Out Military Club in Mayfair, situated on 1.3 prime acres of the Piccadilly Estate, is set to be reimagined into Auberge Collection’s inaugural London hotel: Cambridge House. Positioned between Green Park and Shepherd Market, the 102-room property, together with its private members’ club, has tapped into the nous of two leading designers Jean-Louis Deniot and Laura Gonzalez, to bring it back to life.

Details – and most importantly, menus – of flagship restaurant Major's Grill have been kept under wraps but we do know that the spa is going to be a major talking point. Inspired by Britain’s healing lore and informed by its Roman bathhouses, the double-level spa will feature hydrotherapy facilities, two heated swimming pools and seven treatment rooms, all complemented by a circular relaxation lounge centred around a fire pit.

Opening date: Spring 2026

St Regis London, Mayfair

Flanking the corner of Conduit and New Bond Street, the St Regis’ debut in the capital will not fail to impress loyal guests. Housing 195 rooms, including 66 suites, the property will draw on the heritage of St Regis and the Astor family, most notably Lady Astor, inspiring elements such as the quintessential St Regis butler service, midnight suppers, and curated social events.

Dining here will take place in a 90-seat signature restaurant, alongside the classic St Regis Bar, an intimate Library, and a private dining room for up to 18 guests. Wellness will also be central to the experience, with two spa suites featuring plunge pools, saunas, personalised treatments, and a fully equipped gym. More details to follow…

The Shepherd, Mayfair

Designed by acclaimed architecture studio Buckley Gray Yeoman, this hotel reflects Shepherd Market’s rich heritage while reviving an original Mayfair mansion. Home to 82 rooms across six floors, social spaces sit at the core of The Shepherd. Don’t miss the ground floor British brasserie, Fayre; The Lounge serving artisan coffee, beautifully presented pastries and light lunches; and late-night cocktail bar, Teddy’s. Hidden on the lower ground, it reimagines one of Mayfair’s most popular bars of the 1960s. Watch this space…
