The OD Talamanca hotel offers both revelry and relaxation, set betweenTalamanca bay and Ibiza’s old town

There has been a lot of talk recently about ‘the new Ibiza’: Croatia, Mykonos and Bali have all threatened the White Isle’s status as the party-hard, boho-cool capital of the world. Ibiza however, isn’t worried. This 24/7 European playground for grown-ups groves to its own laidback beat, balancing beach clubs and revelry with world-class cuisine and all-encompassing wellness offerings, all with a typically Ibizan chilled-out charm. Alessandra Ambrosio, Cara Delevingne, Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth are among the phalanx of celebrities dropping anchors and charting private jets to the White Isle this summer, along with some 7,000 tourists.

Talamanca is fast becoming one of the most fashionable destinations on the island, located a 15-minute walk along the water’s edge on the Paseo Maritimo boardwalk to Ibiza Town, via the glossy Marina Botafoch, where restaurants and clubs jostle for attention among the superyachts.

The five-star OD Talamanca hotel is set on the yacht-speckled, upmarket Talamanca Bay. It sits under the smart OD Hotels umbrella, which also boasts sites in Barcelona and Mallorca. Interiors are bright and spacious in handsome wood and Mediterranean blue tones, inspired by the island’s natural colour palette. During the day, guests relax on Balinese cabana beds by the split-level swimming pool and enjoy rosé wine-fuelled long lunches at the a la carte restaurant, which is exclusive to hotel guests.

For those seeking relaxation, there are private yoga sessions in the morning and in-room wellness treatments; for the party-goers, room service operates 24 hours and breakfast is served until midday. Guests can make use of complimentary bicycles and smart cars to explore the island, returning in time to watch the sun set from the hotel’s private rooftop, which hosts live DJs and an oyster-and-champagne shack throughout the summer months.

Opt for plush privacy by booking the rooftop suite at OD Talamanca, set over two floors with a private pool. For those seeking something more permanent, the OD Group also owns the White Angel property development, made up of 54 light-suffused luxury apartments with contemporary interiors and views over Ibiza’s azure blue seas (prices start from £1.65 million).

The boutiques, restaurants and clubs of Talamanca Bay are within easy walking distance of the hotel. Dine out at Sa Punta, a charming and casual restaurant with a varied menu of Mediterranean, Asian fusion or Lebanese, served with ocean views and pin-sharp, friendly service, or meander along the waterfront to Ibiza’s beautiful Old Town, where curious architecture and bustling street markets are the perfect foil to the island’s late-night excess.

Sunset seekers should head further afield to La Torre, a clifftop restaurant set high on the hills in Cap Negre, overlooking the Mediterranean. Go for the panoramic views but stay for the food: a bounty of fresh, local seafood and sizzling tapas.
