The best luxury hotels in St Tropez

22 Apr 2026 | Updated on: 29 Apr 2026 |By Annie Lewis

St Tropez has never shied away from the spotlight – but new flight routes and film sets mean this French Riviera destination should definitely be on your radar this summer

St Tropez has long been synonymous with glitz and glamour. The most famous destination on the Côte d’Azur, rivalled only by the bright Hollywood-tinted lights of Cannes, St Tropez has evolved from a sleepy fishing village to become the byword for sun-drenched European luxury. Exuding the same buzzy bohemian vibes as Mykonos and Ibiza, this Mediterranean enclave has seduced artists, intellectuals, and free spirits for generations, having first garnered the reputation as a hub for avant-garde creatives like Henri Matisse and Pierre Bonnard, before becoming a global hotspot for filmmakers and painters in the Fifties and Sixties, driven by Brigitte Bardot’s penchant for the area’s peace and beauty.

And, while St Tropez remained a summer must-visit in the intervening years, aided by the addition of five-star hotels, global beach club brands and Michelin-starred restaurants, it’s set to enjoy an increased dose of attention in 2026. White Lotus producer Mike White recently settled on St Tropez’s Airelles Château de la Messardière as the backdrop for season four, while  British Airways is launching a new twice-weekly summer service from London City to Toulon Saint-Tropez from May 2026, offering a direct route to the exclusive coastline. So, what are you waiting for? Here are the most luxurious hotels in St Tropez for a glamorous escape to the French Riviera.

Hotel Byblos, St Tropez Village

A true icon of the French Riviera, Hotel Byblos was the vision of Jean-Prosper Gay-Para, who opened the hotel in 1967 as a tribute to Brigitte Bardot. Almost six decades later, Byblos still serves up the sophistication which has since become synonymous with St Tropez – and reopens its doors for the summer season this week. While it may be one of the oldest hotels on this list, it has never been one to rest on its laurels; last year saw its restaurants undergo an extensive renovation by Ugo Architecture and heralded a new Italian eatery, Il Giardino, the revamped B. Lounge and the debut of the first rooftop in Byblos’ history: Sky Bar.

New for 2026 are eight suites by interior designer Laura Gonzalez, alongside the opening of a new Technogym fitness centre, refreshed treatments at the Byblos Spa by Sisley – including a bespoke men’s facial – and the launch of the Byblos boutique. Elsewhere, the hotel’s signature beach club, Byblos Beach Ramatuelle, will usher in a new chapter under the culinary direction of Allan Gonthier, alongside an exclusive women’s swimwear collaboration with Maio, available only at the beach club. You just have to be there…

From £700 per night.

Arev, St Tropez Village

Opened in March 2024, Arev St Tropez is the debut boutique hotel from luxury lifestyle brand Arev, and boasts an enviable location in the heart of St Tropez. Combining old-school luxury with the nostalgic charm of the 1970s, designer Luis Bustamante nods to the Côte d’Azur with nautical-themed décor – think navy and white stripes complemented by red accents – throughout its 35 rooms, on-site restaurant The Strand, and retro Q Bar (which attracts a stylish crowd for aperitifs and nightcaps every day of the week).

While the hotel offers a plethora of on-site amenities to keep you thoroughly entertained – don’t miss an R&R session in the boutique spa and beautiful outdoor pool, or make the most of the e-bikes, fitness centre, padel and pétanque courts – Arev actively encourages its guests to immerse themselves in the local way of life. Showcased via a selection of curated experiences, enjoy olive oil tasting with master gardener Stéphan Rabany, perfume masterclasses with Maison ST, ceramics workshops, and guided tours around the famous St Tropez market, offering insights into regional delicacies and seasonal produce.

From £600 per night.

Como Le Beauvallon, Grimaud

This week will see St Tropez’s hotel scene level up once again with the opening of Como Le Beauvallon: the Belle Époque landmark come private estate once frequented by Winston Churchill and Audrey Hepburn. The storied property – built in 1914, closed in 2008 for a meticulous restoration, and reopened in 2015 as an exclusive-use estate – will return to its hotel roots under the Como brand, which will also be making its debut on the Côte d’Azur with this luxury hotel. Commanding a rare 10-acre estate on the Gulf of St Tropez, with sweeping lawns cascading down to a private beach, sleek beach club and yacht-ready jetty, we’d say it was worth the wait.

Expect seamless speedboat transfers to St Tropez and nearby beaches like Ramatuelle, holistic treatments at Como Shambhala, seafood at signature restaurant Beauvallon Sur Mer and 42 individually-designed suites and rooms, featuring more than 300 artworks, including sculptures, installations, and rare objects d'art. While there’s plenty to do outside Le Beauvallon, we won’t blame you if you spend your entire holiday by the gorgeous pool, rendered in glimmering blue and green tiles, or exploring the bayside gardens and pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Toyo Ito.

From £560 per night.

Cheval Blanc St Tropez, St Tropez Village

Unsurprisingly for a French hotel group, Cheval Blanc’s St Tropez hotel does not do things by halves. Well-versed in the art of gallic hospitality, and with outposts across the world, it chose a historic address, formerly known as La Résidence de la Pinède (operating since 1936), in the centre of St Tropez for its opening here in 2019. Set to reopen for the season on 7 May 2026, it boasts a sought-after location with direct access to the beach, and offers guests the best of both worlds: postcard-worthy views of either the glittering sea and verdant pine forests, or the famed village itself.

Interior designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte made these vistas the talking point throughout the 32 rooms, while high-end amenities, like custom pottery by Roger Capron, nod to Cheval Blanc’s signature attention to detail. Three in-house restaurants invite guests on a journey between land and sea, with must-try menus at the three Michelin-starred La Vague d’Or priced at a lofty €490. Make a splash at the infinity pool, which is continually heated to a balmy 30 degrees, or head to the beach for sunbathing or to catch a private boat for sea excursions and water sports. Bon voyage

From £1,130 per night.

Lily of the Valley, La Croix-Valmer

Lily of the Valley opened in 2019 and almost immediately caused a ripple of excitement across the French Riviera. This wasn’t just another luxury beach hotel with a bar full of Whispering Angel and an overpriced Provençal salad; this stylish, design-led retreat offered a wellness haven amid St Tropez’ hedonism, perfect for those looking to get healthy in true French fashion. Open year-round and a stone’s throw from the town centre, the hotel’s raison d'être is its 2,000 square metre spa, fitness space and expertly curated programmes for long-term health and weight loss.

Not that you’ll embark on a retreat here in plain surroundings; designed by renowned French architect, Philippe Starck, Lily of the Valley was inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the cloisters of Provençal abbeys, and the architectural style of Californian villas. Perched on the lush hilltops overlooking the bay, a natural palette of exposed concrete, polished marble, local exotic woods and natural leathers are resplendent across the 38 rooms, 14 suites and three exclusive villas. Elsewhere, discover healthy Mediterranean menus curated by head chef Vincent Maillard across its three on-site restaurants, or eschew the spa for a sun-drenched sojourn to the hotel’s private beach, Plage de Gigaro.

From £620 per night.
