Classy hen do destinations for sophisticated brides
These destinations prove money can, in fact, buy class when it comes to organising an up-market bachelorette
Away from the superclubs of Ibiza, the rosé-fuelled lunches in Cannes and the party scenes of Mykonos, Hvar and beyond lies the chance to have a truly spectacular but sophisticated hen. With the aforementioned no strangers to hosting hectic bachelorette parties – and, accordingly, charging a small fortune for activities, alcohol and accommodation – we’ve rounded up the less obvious hen do destinations that deliver on both style and substance. Eschew the party-primed pads and discover where to enjoy a classy, elegant hen in the UK and Europe.
Lisbon, Portugal

Home to beautiful architecture, award-winning restaurants, independent boutiques and a thriving arts and culture scene, Lisbon is, undeniably, one of the coolest places in Europe for a hen weekend. Head to the Bairro Alto neighbourhood for a buzzy bohemian vibe brimming with great nightlife before delving into the Chiado and Alfama districts for cooking classes that prove there’s more to Portuguese cuisine than pastel de natas. Salsa classes, boat trips and wine tastings sourced directly from the Douro Valley are also a must.
Where to stay: 1908 Lisboa Hotel

If funky interiors are your thing, make your hen special with a stay in this gorgeous 36-key, Art Nouveau property that blends award-winning architecture with stylish interiors by Atelier Maldonado. 1908 Lisboa Hotel is also home to the design-led Infame Restaurant and Bar, featuring a menu by chef André Rebelo serving sangrias, signature cocktails and Portuguese wines alongside plates of crab rice with tiger prawns and beef croquettes with honey mustard. Step outside into the hip and trendy neighbourhood of Intendente and you’ll find even more buzzy bars and restaurants to sate your appetite. In Lisbon, the party never has to end.
From £230 per night.
The Cotswolds, UK

Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1966, the Cotswolds covers almost 800 square miles spanning Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, and Worcestershire. You’ve likely spotted it as the backdrop of popular films such as Bridget Jones’s Diary, Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey, and heard of its picture-perfect towns of Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water, which have all become popular tourist hotspots. We don’t think hen weekends get more indulgent than holing up in a country mansion to while away the weekend with games of croquet, sun bathing sessions, homemade feasts and kitchen discos, without ever needing to leave the premises.
Where to stay: Sheepscombe House

If you’re after a whimsical backdrop that looks like it’s been transplanted straight from the set of Pride and Prejudice, look no further than Sheepscombe House. Surrounded by the rolling green fields of Gloucestershire, and once recognised in Conde Nast Traveller’s Best of British Houses, the property features five bedrooms catering for up to 10 guests, while other relaxing and social spaces include a drawing room, library, open kitchen, dining room and games room. Book in the summer to make the most of the outdoor heated pool, tiled terrace lined with sunbeds and all-weather tennis court. It doesn’t get much better than this.
From £12,000 per week.

Whether you want a winter or summer hen, Edinburgh provides the goods. The Scottish capital is never one to miss a party, coming alive for its famous Hogmanay celebrations in December as well as in August, thanks to the Edinburgh Fringe festival. Take your hens to see the sights – the castle, the Royal Mile, Calton Hill and Arthur’s Seat (One Day fans rejoice) – before enjoying a dose of culture at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, National Galleries of Scotland and Scottish Gallery of Modern Art. Rather unsurprisingly, there are plenty of world-class pubs, terraces, restaurants and brunch spots on your doorstep too.
Where to stay: W Edinburgh

Perfectly situated near Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Mile, W Edinburgh was named Scottish Hotel of the Year 2025 and is renowned for being an uber modern bolthole that puts a special focus on food. After a day of exploring, hens can unwind at Joao’s Place, an intimate speakeasy inspired by São Paulo’s Liberdade neighbourhood, serving curated cocktails and Brazilian-inspired small bites. For dinner, indulge at Sushisamba – the only one in Scotland – offering a vibrant fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisines. Also don’t miss the W Deck, located on the 12th floor and open every weekend, which will be hosting Sunset Sessions: a chance to unwind and enjoy signature cocktails as the sun sets over unparalleled views of the city. The best bit? Choose from 244 rooms to relax and rewind, just moments away from the party.
From £320 per night.
Seville, Spain

If you want your hen to be nothing less than sun-drenched, why not head to Spain’s hottest city? Nicknamed the ‘Iberian oven’, Seville has become one of the most Googled destinations in the world over the past few years – so clearly the temperatures haven’t put too many people off. While it is a haven of 13th-century Islamic castles, 14th-century palaces and 15th-century squares, Seville is also the perfect locale for a girls’ trip. The birthplace of flamenco dancing – so a show or dance class is a must – it is also home to a series of delectable restaurants serving sangria and tapas on tap. What more could you want?
Where to stay: Ocean Drive Sevilla

Get your girls together to stay in the uber-modern Ocean Drive Sevilla, which opened last year in the historic Encarnación neighbourhood. All 49 rooms come with either a balcony or terrace, while interiors nod to traditional Sevillian architecture and Mudejar style. There is also an all-day restaurant serving local cuisine – think Spanish potato omelettes, smoked sardine toasts and prawn risotto – to provide fuel for exploring nearby attractions including the cathedral, the Royal Alcázar, and the shops of Tetuán street.
From £85 per night.
Provence, France

Away from the bright lights of St Tropez and Cannes lies a sun-seeker’s paradise home to rolling vineyards and lush lavender fields: Provence. Bordering Italy and the Mediterranean Sea, you’ll find the cosmopolitan centre in Saint-Rémy, which is home to quaint cobbled streets, pastel-hued architecture, and an abundance of boutique shops and local farmers’ markets. Hire a car to venture a little further afield and reach picturesque medieval villages, fragrant lavender fields and rosé wine vineyards – ideal for filling a morning or two before bedding down by the pool until sundowners call.
Where to stay: Bastide Saint-Rémy

Get away from it all among Provençal lavender gardens and shady olive groves at Bastide Saint-Rémy, offering a restful retreat for up to 14 guests. Aptly located a short distance from Provence’s array of historic attractions and an exceptional dining scene that spans bistros to Michelin-star eateries, the villa has been designed as a French home-from-home, with all seven ensuite bedrooms feeling warm and cosy – and with seriously Instagrammable interiors thanks to a mix of rich heritage fabrics, exposed stone walls, and an earthy colour palette. While away the hours with your hens in beautiful outdoor spaces nestled beneath a 300-year-old plane tree, before making a splash in the 18-metre infinity pool, and enjoying a group game on the volleyball and pétanque courts.
From £2,816 per night.
Bath, UK

A popular choice for sophisticated hens looking to stay in the UK is Bath, which offers the perfect blend of culture and wellness. Renowned the world over for its Roman Baths, experience some of the city’s thermal energy at Thermae Bath Spa, home to a rooftop pool with spectacular views across the skyline and beyond. Spend the weekend sauntering the streets to discover the Royal Crescent (and walk in the footsteps of former resident Jane Austen) before frequenting one of the many boutique fitness studios for a group yoga or Pilates session, heading to the pub or enjoying a bottomless brunch.
Where to stay: Heather House

Dating back to 1744, this Georgian townhouse combines period features with modern comforts in the heart of Bath. While its location is a stand-out feature – the Abbey and Roman Baths are less than a five-minute walk away, while Solsbury Hill can be reached in a 20-minute drive for afternoons when you’d like to escape the hustle and bustle – Heather House is home to a characterful kitchen which is perfect for hosting dinner parties, and pastel-hued bedrooms to house your hens.
From £474 per night.
