Exhibitions galore, International Women's Dayand British Pie Week festivities are taking over the capital this weekend

London Design Week 2020, Fulham (from Sunday)

A five-day festival celebrating all things design kicks off on Sunday at Chelsea Harbour’s Design Centre. Immerse yourself in workshops and artisan talks featuring the latest on the newest trends – from patterns and textures to colours and materials – and inject a touch of spring into your interior style with the help of more than 600 brands.

Herstory: Women in Art exhibition at Maddox Gallery (all weekend)

In line with International Women’s Day, Maddox Gallery is highlighting the progress of international female artists in a new exhibition, Herstory. Discover works by the likes of Coco Dávez, renowned for her vibrant use of acrylic paint, Lily Kemp, who explores the representation of women of colour, and Welsh muralist Karimah Hassan at this event, which will mark more than 100 years of International Women’s Day.

British Pie Week, throughout the capital (all weekend)

Indulge in some of the capital’s best pie offerings this weekend in celebration of British Pie Week. At Corrigan’s Mayfair, the restaurant’s award-winning game, Irish cider and Irish beef and snail pies will be served. Claridge’s will also be taking part in the festivities, with its handmade Claridge’s chicken pie (which has been on the menu for almost as long as the hotel has been open) available in The Foyer and Reading Room. For a fusion of tradition and contemporary dining, head to The Connaught Grill at The Connaught, which is serving its chicken and foie gras pie on Saturday, comprising layers of tender chicken and foie gras terrine wrapped in cabbage and puff pastry.

Sweet Nostalgia art exhibition at Gallery Different by West Contemporary Editions, Fitzrovia (all weekend)

A new exhibition at Gallery Different is showcasing works by SweetArt duo Vic and Simon Dry. Nostalgia features artworks made using up-cycled plastic and single-use sweet wrappers. Highlights include limited edition prints of Liquorice Coils, Toblerone, and Black Jacks, to name a few, in a nod to classic candy favourites.

Live Flesh exhibition at Sarabande Foundation

Reimagine the female body at the latest exhibition at Sarabande in honour of International Women’s Day. Works by painter Shannon Bono, sculptor Camilla Hanney and photographer Paloma Tendero challenge myths and taboos of the female body while exploring what it means to inhabit the body of a woman in today’s world.

FAME: Russell Young exhibition at Halcyon Gallery (all weekend)

This March, Halcyon Gallery will shine a light on artist Russell Young, whose dazzling paintings of the stars will be the subject of a new exhibition. Showcasing the artist’s signature diamond-dusted paintings, FAME will celebrate some of the most iconic faces of fame from the 20th century, from Brigitte Bardot and Elizabeth Taylor to David Bowie and Mick Jagger. A Marylin Monroe-themed suite is one of the exhibition’s main attractions, for which images of Monroe will be projected across the gallery’s four stories.
