After a brief hiatus, our weekly guide returns this week with restaurant openings, gourmet deliveries and new exhibitions

Six by Nico opens on Charlotte Street

While the majority of central London is still eerily quiet, a small stretch of Charlotte Street is once again jumping, following the anticipated opening of Six by Nico. Scotland-born chef Nico Simeone’s creative tasting menus change every six weeks, served within a lively, laidback setting that forgoes white tablecloths and stifling service in favour of exposed filament lightbulbs, marble furnishings and a contemporary playlist. Priced at £35 for six courses, it is also tremendous value for money.

The restaurant’s opening menu, The Chippie, is a play on the traditional British fish and chip shop. ‘Smoked Sausage’ is transformed into a dainty trio of pork, served with black pudding, salt-baked celeriac and French sauerkraut, while ‘Steak Pie’ features delicately shredded Speyside beef shin with mushroom duxelle and burnt onion ketchup. Leave room for the finale, Simeone’s ‘Deep Fried Mars Bar’, made up of chocolate pave, blood orange sorbet and chewy caramel, topped with cocoa nib.

A vegetarian tasting menu is also availablePrice: £35 for six courses (£33 for pairing wines)Location: 41 Charlotte Street Fitzrovia, London W1T 1RR Website: sixbynico.co.uk

The Royal Academy of Arts has reopened

The Royal Academy of Arts has reopened in Piccadilly, resuming its popular Picasso and Paper exhibition. The display delves into Picasso’s lesser-explored medium, paper, and includes portraits of Françoise Olivier and Dora Maar. London’s National Gallery, The Barbican (including its greenery-filled conservatory), Whitechapel Gallery and National Maritime Museum are also now open, with social distancing measures in place.

Duke of York Square’s fine Food Market reopens

Curated by Partridges, the Fine Food Market at Duke of York Square is both lively and charming, bringing together local and independent traders. The market has resumed activity, set on the running track outside the Saatchi Gallery. Look out for Riverdale’s organic vegetable boxes; shellfish from the Maldon Oyster Company and enticing wheels of Comté cheese by the Borough Cheese Company, as well as an array of breads, biscuits and cakes – Luxury London recommends Casa Cannoli’s cream-packed pastries. Visitors are encouraged to park their picnics on the grass, newly painted with white circles to encourage social distancing.
