London Art Fair, Islington (all weekend)

The London Art Fair returns this week, showcasing the best modern and contemporary art for guests to browse and buy, alongside classic works by Picasso and Banksy. Visitors can also attend talks, tours and screenings to learn more about the work on show, as well as the art world as a whole, including the art market and artistic practice today.

La Traviata at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (all weekend)

Sir Richard Eyre’s production of Giuseppe Verdi’s most famous Opera, La Traviata, takes the main stage at the Royal Opera House this month. American artist Angel Blue plays courtesan Violetta Valéry, alongside soprano star Ermonela Jaho. The production is a part of the Live Cinema Series taking place at the ROH this year.

When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other, South Bank (all weekend)

Cate Blanchett makes her stage debut in a hotly anticipated new production at the National Theatre, which explores the messy and sometimes violent nature of desire. The intimate performance of Martin Crimp’s When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other is based loosely on the novel, Pamela, by Samuel Richardson. Directed by Katie Mitchell, Blanchett stars alongside Stephen Dillane, who returns to the stage after 17 years. This show is selling faster than you can say South Bank, so snap up any remaining seats now before they’re gone.

Last Chance to see Christian Marclay’s Clock at The Tate, Bankside (all weekend)

Time’s nearly up to see Christian Marclay’s acclaimed Clock at The Tate. Finishing on Sunday, the 24-hour installation presents a montage of far-fetching film and television snippets of clocks, dials and watches, ingeniously edited together so they show the actual time to the second. First broadcast in 2010, this captivating, cult feat is designed to demonstrate the aesthetic and dramatic value of time and will linger with you long after you leave the exhibit.

Foley’s Off Menu, Fitzrovia (Saturday)

This Saturday Foley’s in Fitzrovia is launching a new intimate monthly dining experience, which sits just ten guests. Coined Off Menu, the supperclub is a chance to sample a four-course menu of new dishes, devised by head chef Sakorn Somboon. Expect a colourful plethora of Asian flavours, served in the restaurant’s secluded, industrial-chic basement.

Canary Wharf Winter Lights, Canary Wharf (all weekend)

The Winter Lights are once again brightening up Canary Wharf for a two-week spectacle of glowing, interactive art. Weave between a maze of flashing colour; explore a wonderful winterscape of neon fir trees and pose beside prisms of glowing glass as part of the 20-piece showcase. To celebrate the festival, The Ivy in the Park is hosting a series of performances from LED saxophonists and ballerinas and shaking up a limited-edition luminous cocktail, served in an Instagram-perfect lightbulb.

John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan star as legendary comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy in this Oscar-tipped new biographical release. This comedic tribute follows the famous duo as they attempt to reignite their film careers during the 1950s, grappling with age and ill health. Belly laughs are balanced by plenty poignant moments for a wonderfully watchable film starring two of the industry’s best-loved actors.

Adventure Travel Show, Kensington (all weekend)

If you aspire to trek, surf, climb and camel ride your way around the world, then head to the Adventure Travel Show in Kensington this weekend. The only event of its kind in the UK, the travel showcase is dedicated to promoting pulse-quickening experiences off the beaten track, and hosts the biggest collection of adventure travel specialists and explorers from around the world. Levison Wood leads the show’s line-up of seminars and workshops, alongside globetrotting motorcyclist Austin Vince. Guests who attend on Saturday can also enjoy an immersive evening at the Adventure Travel Film Festival, which presents a curated edit of the best independent travel films in the industry.
