Shakespeare’s most famous tale is re-imagined once again, this time through the eyes of choreographer Matthew Bourne. The Tony Award-winning OBE brings his version of the classic story to Sadler’s Wells this month, accompanied by a riveting score created by Terry Davies. Romeo and Juliet is the latest production from Matthew Bourne and the New Adventures dance company, who have had previous hits with Swan Lake and Cinderella.

Floating Market at Paddington Central (all weekend)

Following a highly successful run last year, the Floating Market returns to the canal at Paddington Central for five days of waterside entertainment. Browse fresh flowers, organic produce, street food and handcrafted homewares, including handmade Italian bags from Rosamund and Turkish towels from Pur. An array of Paddington Central’s own bars and restaurants, including London Shell Co., Vagabond and Darcie May, will be offering complimentary samples throughout the weekend, served with live music and a hearty dose of summertime cheer.

Arcade Food Theatre at Centre Point, Tottenham Court Road (all weekend)

Arcade Food Theatre is a new purpose-built restaurant concept within the Grade II listed Centre Point tower near Tottenham Court Road. The high-end food court houses seven independent kitchens and three bars, including Chotto by Chotto Matte; TŌU - a katsu sandwich shop by TĀ TĀ Eatery - and Pophams bakery. The restaurants are set to rotate every few months, while The Loft mezzanine space is committed to showcasing the capital’s latest culinary trends.

Blinded by the Light opens at cinemas (all weekend)

Blinded by the Light is the latest film by Gurinder Chadha (Bend it like Beckham) which follows the uplifting story of a Pakistani teenager growing up in 1980s England. Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, Javed – played by Vivek Kalra – turns to poetry and music as a means of escaping the racism of his hometown and the strict rules of his traditional father. When a friend introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels to his life in the lyrics and discovers a way to express his own suppressed voice. This much-anticipated film is perfect for fans of Yesterday, Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, and of course, Bruce Springsteen.

London Dessert Festival at The Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch (all weekend)

Calling all sweet tooths. Satisfy your sweet cravings this weekend at the London Dessert Festival, taking place at The Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch. Immerse yourself in fanciful pastries, doughnuts, ice cream, milkshakes and more from a global line-up of vendors including Primrose Hill's Brooklyn Cakery; Wheelcake Island and Miki's Paradise. Enjoy workshops, picturesque themed spaces – including a vegan zone – and plenty of complimentary sampling.
