Whether dressing up for London Fashion Week or Goodwood Revival, there's plenty to entertain in the capital this week

London Design Festival, across London (from Saturday)

London Design Festival is once again transforming the capital this week with a loaded schedule of exhibitions, events and installations. Stretching from Hammersmith to Hackney, highlights include Sam Jacob’s Sea Things, Kengo Kuma’s Bamboo Ring: Weaving into Lightness and Paul Cocksedge’s Please Be Seated. The year’s theme for the festival is the effects of climate change and many projects are promoting powerful messages within their artwork.

London Fashion Week, across London (from Friday)

Anya Hindmarch has revealed a new immersive installation, which will be shown during London Fashion Week. The British designer, who eschews the traditional schedule in favour of experiential installations, will present The Postbox Maze, which celebrates the written word. Weave your way through the large-scale, Royal Mail-red maze, which has been inspired by the patterns of Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher’s Metamorphosis III mural, designed 50 years ago for The Hague Post Office.

For the first time, London Fashion Week is open to the public. Experience catwalk shows, panel discussions and exhibits, including DiscoveryLAB, featuring an eclectic selection of designer showrooms, and a #PositiveFashion exhibition, which promotes equality and sustainability within the industry.

Goodwood Revival, West Sussex (Friday-Sunday)

While not in London, Goodwood Revival draws crowds from the capital to West Sussex for its celebration of classic cars. Classic cars. The automotive event is staged entirely in period dress, recreating the ‘golden era’ of the Motor Circuit, celebrating cars and aircrafts created between 1948 and 1966. Marvel at an array of classic motors, aircraft displays and retro stalls, accompanied by live demonstrations and entertainment throughout the afternoon. Pack your own picnic hamper or try one of the many street food options, accompanied by plenty of champagne.

Goodwood Style by Koto Bolofo at Connolly, Mayfair (all week)

Goodwood arrives in Mayfair this week, with the unveiling of a new photographic exhibition by South African photographer Koto Bolofo. The showcase captures the spirit of Goodwood Revival through a series of black and white photographs shot in 2004 and coincides with a new collaborative menswear collection by Connolly and Goodwood. Connolly built its name during the seventies as a leather supplier for the automobile industry, thus making it the perfect partner for Goodwood’s line of bomber jackets, knitwear and accessories, also available to buy exclusively on MR PORTER.

Sweat by BXR opens its second outpost in Canary Wharf this week, following the success of the original pay-per-go concept in Marylebone. The glossy new space is decidedly smaller than the original but still packs a considerable punch (no pun intended). SweatBOX combines boxing rounds on the bag with bodyweight and ab-crunching exercises for an exhilarating full-body workout, while Climb to the Beat sets you moving on a Versaclimber for a calorie-torching 45-minutes.

William Blake The Artist at the Tate Britain (all week)

A rare showcase of artwork by poet and visionary William Blake is unveiled at Tate Britain this weekend. More than 300 of his works will be on display, including Newton, which portrays a young Isaac Newton and The Ghost of a Flea, a painting of a half-man/half-beast, representing a supposed spiritual dream that Blake had once had. William Blake The Artist is an immersive recreation of the exhibition that he held over 200 years ago.

The Handmade Festival, Hampton Court Palace (Friday-Sunday)

The Handmade Festival is a three-day celebration of local artisans and independent art and crafts, set in the historic grounds of Hampton Court Palace. Kirstie Allsopp is hosting the event on Friday and Saturday, followed by beauty specialist Liz Earle MBE on Sunday. Shop an array of handcrafted wares or hone your skills at an intimate workshop, where you can learn the art of calligraphy or try your hand at cupcake piping.

Downton Abbey Film Release, across London (from Friday)

The beloved Downton Abbey hits the big screen this weekend.
