The London Short Film Festival, across London

The London Short Film Festival returns this weekend for its seventeenth edition, celebrating filmmaking from a diverse range of backgrounds. Almost 300 films make up this year’s thought-provoking schedule of homegrown and international talent, shown at venues including the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), BFI Southbank, the Science Museum and historic independent cinemas including Rio in Dalston. Musical highlights include a screening of a VHS compilation of Blondie’s music videos to date called The Best of Blondie (1981) and Black Audio Visions: Transforming the Gaze through Sound, an exploration of the auditory experience of listening to film from the perspective of pan-African filmmakers.

The R&R Pop-up at Carousel Seven Dials, Covent Garden (from Wednesday)

Carousel is hosting an R&R pop-up this week at its ever-changing site in Covent Garden, focusing on health, wellbeing, and handy life hacks. Enjoy Q&A’s, uplifting workshops and inspiring talks, alongside a spread of healthy snacks and plant-based salads served by BOL Foods for lunch. Highlights include chair massages with Isabel Fernandez on Wednesday; sound baths on Thursday evening; an evening with London Meditation Centre on Friday and yoga with Refinery Studio on Saturday.

Mocktails at The Lanesborough, Hyde Park

Looking for decadence without the hangover? The Library Bar at The Lanesborough has launched a new collection of alcohol-free cocktails for Dry January. Head bartender Sofiane Barthelemy has created eight alcohol-free concoctions, including the modern London classic X-rated, a mix of passion fruit, vanilla, mango and fresh lemon juice; and Ruby Diamond, which shakes cherries and red grapes with Aecorn Aromatic, egg yolk, and cherry and cinnamon syrup.

The Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair, Mayfair

Kick-off the new year with a dose of fine art at the eighth annual Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair, held at the London Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square. Peruse works from more than 40 exhibitors, spanning Art Deco and mid-century furniture to contemporary paintings, vintage watches and 20th-century jewellery. Dry January needn’t be dreary. The Mind Palace, a Sherlock-themed speakeasy hidden within the W12 Shopping Centre, has added Seedlip-based mocktails to its immersive menu. Solve a series of puzzles to defeat Moriarty’s top lieutenant, Sebastian Moran, in order to be rewarded with a refreshing tipple. Once finished, extend the evening by enjoying a selection of inventive libations, served within the speakeasy-style space.
