After shutting its doors in January for a springtime spruce-up, Indigo at One Aldwych has reopened, unveiling a refreshed and refined look for the new season. And how better to celebrate its grand return than with a brand-spanking-new menu? All elements from the décor to the dishes have been thought through and finessed – and we think it’s about time you booked yourself a table to check out Covent Garden’s worst-kept secret first hand.

Boasting a brilliant central location in the heart of buzzy Theatreland, Indigo sits within One Aldwych, London’s first five-star B Corp hotel which won a prestigious Michelin Key at last year’s inaugural awards. As part of the hotel’s recent refresh by London-based designer Fabled Studio, the popular dining destination has been expertly transformed in time for spring, bringing all the glitz, glam and haute cuisine you’d expect from a top London bolthole.

Step inside to be immediately ensconced in a warm and relaxed atmosphere that cocoons from the hectic, happening London streets. The deep-set arched windows have been newly lined in English oak to emphasise the details of this original listed feature, while colourful and striking art pieces have been added throughout to bring character and charm. Modern lighting coffers have been fitted and patterned wall coverings hung for a more intimate and laidback vibe.

Which is all well and good – but what about the food? The new menu has been created by Executive Chef Dominic Teague, adhering to his ethos for seasonality, bringing together the finest, freshest ingredients from a collection of independent British growers and makers to create a series of irresistible dishes. Devoted to this way of cooking, Teague makes sure to visit the farms from which he sources produce and takes his staff on foraging trips to North Devon or Pembrokeshire at least once a year to reconnect his team to the origins of their ingredients.

Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner, Teague and his brigade have dreamt up menus to cater to all occasions, taking the British brasserie up a big notch with simple, delicious, flavourful dishes, that all happen to be 100 per cent gluten and dairy-free. Settle in for a breakfast of sweet and savoury goods, from buttermilk pancakes and a full English to a blueberry and lime brioche. Or spend a weekday or weekend lunch grazing on the likes of Cotswold chicken pie, hand-rolled herb gnocchi, or even a hearty roast on Saturdays and Sundays, paired with one of the carefully selected wines, for a mouth-wateringly special experience.

Dinner is served à la carte – stand-out dishes include seared Orkney scallops and Cornish monkfish wrapped in seaweed – or opt for the tasting menu with wine pairing to go the full nine yards. If you’re heading to a West End show, check out the pre-theatre menu, available in two or three courses. Dining with little ones? The children’s menu has everything they could dream of (penne pasta, mini burgers, chicken and potatoes and, of course, an ice cream sundae). Oh, and we always recommend saving room for pudding, be it a seasonal fruit crumble or a decadent milk chocolate crémeux.

Whether it’s a pre-show meal that takes your fancy or a lazy Sunday lunch with the whole gang, whatever you do, make it happen at Indigo. And should you need to sleep it off, there are the most sublimely comfortable bedrooms upstairs.
