There’s no better time to enjoy the best of the capital than in the lead up to Christmas, when Londoners can really let their hair down against a backdrop of sparkling lights, dazzling cultural events, and the anticipation of that elusive, all-time epicurean high.

And the chic, spacious and sophisticated Tattu London, which sits proudly on the rooftop of the newly opened Now Building in Demark Street’s Outernet development, is celebrating the most indulgent time of the year with a Christmassy twist on its contemporary Cantonese classics. Namely, with the launch of its latest installation, The Great Snow.

The Great Snow, which has been sweeping gloriously over London’s skyline since the start of November, boasts a snow-themed installation, an Aurora Borealis light show, elegant cocktails, and frosted, limited-edition desserts, together with the usual sumptuous Cantonese dishes for which the restaurant has become known.

Taking inspiration from the Northern-most provinces of China, where snow-capped mountains and bright stars scatter the horizon, Tattu London has paid homage to this celebrated moment in the Chinese Calendar, which symbolises royalty, dignity, and purity. Embracing the festive season, and the coming together of cultures through an immersive and experiential culinary experience, the main courtyard space of the restaurant will be dusted in snowfall throughout the winter, while the Courtyard House and orchard have been transformed with icy blue tones and adorned with shimmering icicles.

The Northern Light show, in turn, reframes the in-house wall art and exquisite Joyce Wang Studio-designed space, reflecting and refracting the Aurora Borealis throughout. Bringing together classic artistry with cutting-edge techniques, the result is a truly elegant and elevated festive experience.

What’s more, the food is just as impressive as the view. Don’t miss the impeccable Szechuan rock shrimp served with carrot, pancho pepper and pickle; the deliciously aromatic crispy duck pancakes plated with Szechuan peppers, cucumber and spring onion; or the mouth-watering caramel soy aged beef fillet finished with shiitake, ginger and asparagus. For a decadent finish, you’ll be hard-pressed to choose between the sumptuous snow-capped desserts such as the show-stopping Mount Heng Flambe – a decadent baked Alaska constructed with maraschino cherry, hazelnuts, coconut and meringue.

And don’t miss a pre- or post-dinner tipple at Tattu’s Phoenix Bar and Terrace for artfully-curated and on-theme cocktails, created by Bartender of the Year 2019, Millie Tang. May we recommend both the Aurora, featuring Grey Goose vodka, indulgent white chocolate and cherry, and the Winter Berry Ramos, which is served with Bombay Premier Cru, creamy flavourful berries and a refreshing apricot soda.

Chin chin!
