Summer is in full swing in the capital, and over at Pan Pacific London, a new seasonal menu is stealing the show. Helmed by executive chef Adam Bateman and his fabulous team, the menu at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Straits Kitchen, has undergone a summer spruce-up, introducing fresh, flavourful and innovative dishes guaranteed to delight hotel guests, passers by and the biggest foodies in town alike.

Celebrating bold Southeast Asian flavours enhanced by Western techniques and finessed by Bateman’s imaginative, creative spirit, every dish uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients from trusted suppliers. Take, for example, Aubrey Allen: the renowned British butcher that Bateman has maintained a close relationship with for more than 35 years. Pairing its commitment to high-quality produce with Bateman’s inventive mindset and culinary skill, an exceptional menu is inevitable.

And these impeccable dishes with unusual twists and divine flavours haven’t gone unnoticed. Straits Kitchen has recently been awarded two AA Rosettes in recognition of its culinary excellence. Commenting on the achievement, Bateman says: “The team has worked incredibly hard to bring a sense of lightness and freshness to this menu. The award is a true testament to their dedication, and I’m genuinely proud of everything they’ve achieved.”

The revamped à la carte menu brings summertime energy to every meal. Think bold fusion concoctions, vibrant, unexpected pairings and quality ingredients across an exciting array of dishes that indulge all the senses. Highlights include hand-dived Scottish scallops with a soy, sesame and chilli dressing (served in the shell for an authentic touch) and a fabulous crab pappardelle showcasing Devon’s finest seafood, served with a creamy coconut and chilli laksa in a delicious East-West fusion.

Equally, the slow-braised beef shouldn’t be missed; accompanied by hibiscus pickled pink onions and charred baby leeks, it promises the perfect balance of rich, crisp, tender and crunch. Be sure to save room for pudding, whether that’s a decadent chocolate sponge with kumquat compôte and a zesty chocolate lime sorbet, or a citrus set custard – a modern twist on crème brûlée that is velvety, rich and served with blood orange and pink grapefruit sorbet for a refreshing palate cleanser.

Don’t just take our word for it, though. Whether a foodie hunting down your next favourite restaurant, looking for an impressive dinner date spot for two, or intrigued by the fabulous fusion of flavours, sample a taste of the very best at Straits Kitchen.
