Cahoots has had a special delivery from the milkman. Here's how to create the bar's new milk vodka-infused summer sipper: Midnight Noir

Few bars can lay claim to the ability to time travel, but if you’re looking to go back in time in the capital, there’s only one destination for it: Cahoots. Tucked away in a corner of Kingly Court in Soho, the suave cocktail bar takes its cues from the frivolous heydey of the 1940s, when Londoners looked to the future with hope, optimism and a healthy dollop of fun.

Modelled on a disused underground station, Cahoots features three distinct spaces –Ticket Hall Boozer, Underground and Signal Station – each deck out in the spirit of post-war resourcefulness, from the old-fashioned wooden escalators that lead downstairs, to the dramatic, tiled, platform bar set alongside vintage train carriages. The 1940s tube carriage seats, mismatched furniture and bunting draped throughout complete the backdrop for a jolly good knees-up, while the newly-opened Ticket Hall Boozer serves up a curated collection of black-market hooch, draught beers, small plates and an array of cocktails – think the Winston Churchill, featuring Bombay Sapphire gin, cherry liqueur, guava, and pink grapefruit soda, and the Keep Marm and Carry On with vodka, passion fruit and orange marmalade topped with champagne.

This month, however, the Cahoots team received a rather special delivery from the milkman. From the fields of Dorset, Black Cow Vodka is the world’s first pure milk vodka – and inspired the team to develop unique concoctions so smooth you can sip until the cows come home. Our favourite? Midnight Noir, a fruity, rich serve created by bar manager Massimo Serpelloni. He says: “We took the notes of vanilla and white chocolate that feature in Black Cow Vodka and combined these with tart Evangelista Ratafia cherry liqueur and blackberry cordial. The addition of the coffee adds a touch of bitterness to the cocktail, tantalising multiple tastebuds simultaneously. This is the perfect summer sipper.”
