La Dolce Vita cocktail recipe by Little Violet Door
Bring the disco vibes to your living room with the La Dolce Vita cocktail by Little Violet Door – a surefire serve to get any party started
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, The Little Door & Co has made quite the name for itself as the go-to party destination in the capital. Each Door – there are four spanning Notting Hill to Clapham, each named after colours – is where a modern, grown-up house party comes alive, featuring kitchen discos, games rooms, vinyl players and, of course, late night cocktails.
The most recent addition to the portfolio, having only opened this summer, Little Violet Door set up shop on one of Soho‘s most vibrant streets: Carnaby. The venue itself is a storied party palace, housed in former music venue Bag O’Nails – once frequented by legends Elton John and Paul McCartney – and capturing the essence of Carnaby’s rich heritage and hedonistic spirit, with impeccably designed interiors drawing inspiration from the heydeys of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
Behind the statement violet door, complete with vintage knocker, there’s a maze of rooms to discover. The heart of this home is, of course, the kitchen – the central hub of all good house parties and where the disco magic happens. Expect to spot DJs spinning the decks among pots and pans from the renovated turntable kitchen island – and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
Cocktails, meanwhile, are served in household essentials – think teacups, tin cans and milk bottles – and draw inspiration from the venue’s expansive DVD collection. Signature serves include La La Land – vodka, raspberry, Martini Rosso, and Mozart White & Vanilla – and Kill Bill Volume 2, featuring Remy Martin VSOP Brandy, Bacardi Negra, Toti Dark Rum, ginger syrup and Camden Pale Ale, served alongside Little Violet Door’s house punch.
If you’re looking to bring Little Violet Door’s party vibes into your own home, however, how about recreating its La Dolce Vita recipe to sip on the sofa this weekend? A simple, fruity concoction, it’s the brainchild of Cecilia Larsson, general manager of sister bar, Little Yellow Door. In-house mixologist, Greg Chudzio, says: “Our La Dolce Vita cocktail presents a beautifully balanced flavour profile, where the deep, dark sweetness of black grapes and the rich, tart notes of blackcurrant harmonise seamlessly. It’s also violet in colour, complementing the Little Violet Door’s statement front door, and named after one of the flatmates’ favourite films from the 1960s.“ Discover the recipe below.
