In need of a hangover cure? We've got you covered. Here's how to recreate the Lunar Pub Company's Bloody Martini

If you’ve planned a back-to-back itinerary for the August bank holiday – we’re talking bottomless brunches, pub dates with friends and a reservation at that wine bar you’ve seen all over Instagram – chances are you’re going to be feeling slightly worse for wear on Monday. And while we all have our niche hangover cures, one surefire way to kick that lingering headache is to down (or sip) one particular drink: a Bloody Mary.

Putting a playful spin on the classic, however, is the Lunar Pub Company – the group which encompasses The Hunter’s Moon in Chelsea (opened in 2019), Belgravia’s Ganymede (2021) and The Apollo Arms, which launched in Clapham Old Town last year. Transforming this long serve into a short in the form of a martini, this concoction has been created by owner-director Hubert Beatson-Hird. He says: “We’ve taken out all the heavy elements of a traditional Bloody Mary, which can sometimes feel like a meal in a drink, especially unwelcome the morning after. By removing the bad stuff and keeping the good elements – the alcohol, the spice, and the pick-me-up factor – we’ve created a drink that will take you from a sore head to ready to roll in one glass.”
