Black Forest Espresso Martini cocktail recipe by The Laundry
Do you have a penchant for espresso martinis? Sample this black forest-infused serve this month to get into the holiday spirit
Festive drinks don’t get much better than an espresso martini. Perfect for a post-work pick-me-up with friends or lazy evenings in front of the fire, cosying up with a creamy, coffee tipple will always be our idea of heaven. Plus, if you’re happy to try a modern spin on a classic, many bars across London offer variations of the mega martini infused with salted caramel or citrusy notes – but no one does it better than The Laundry.
Situated on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton, The Laundry is a former Edwardian steam press laundry that served its community from 1904 until 2014, when it was lovingly renovated by Kiwi entrepreneurs Melanie Brown and Sami Harvey. The all-day dining destination reopened in 2019, and five years later has become famous for its casual brunches and hearty, sell-out Sunday lunches. And, if we were you, we wouldn’t dream of skimping on the cocktail list either.
Classics such as peach bellinis are well executed, while the standout Bloody Maria is infused with tequila and wasabi – a much-needed wake-up call over brunch. However, for December, look no further than the espresso martini bar. Featuring the After Eight, infused with mint and chocolate, and the Flat White with Baileys, our favourite is the Black Forest espresso martini. Brown says: “Inspired by The Laundry’s most popular festive dessert, the Black Forest tiramisu, this luxurious cocktail combines vibrant cherry, bold espresso flavours, and an elegant touch of chocolate. It’s the perfect cocktail for the festive season!” Here’s how to make it at home.
