Where to wine and dine in the capital this year

As one of the foodie capitals of the world, every month – let alone every year – sees London diversify its restaurant landscape further. From family-owned restaurants that have been serving the city for decades, to Michelin-starred kitchens setting the bar for fine dining, and debut openings from heavy-hitters on the American, European and Asian food scenes, whatever your palate desires, London will deliver. Naturally, then, 2025 will welcome a flurry of new restaurants from aspiring and inspiring restaurateurs promising impeccable service, boundary-breaking food and, of course, more than a little glamour and luxury. Discover the best new London restaurants opening in 2025 – and how you can be among the first to bag a table.

Don’t Tell Dad, Queen’s Park

Don’t Tell Dad
Don’t Tell Dad

Daniel Land – the original co-founder of Coco di Mama – launched new neighbourhood bakery, Don’t Tell Dad, in the cobbled passage of Lonsdale Road in Queen’s Park, boasting an impressive combination of baked goods, French-inspired dishes, and brilliant design from Nothing is Not Nothing and Daisy Peat. Named after a common phrase whispered between siblings, the restaurant is a tribute to Land’s late sister, Lesley, with nods to her joyous character throughout.

The bakery operates from a completely open kitchen, inviting customers to marvel at the making of goods such as brown butter hazelnut croissants, artichoke, sage and Lancashire poacher pain suisse and bergamot and cardamom doughnuts, while the restaurant serves modern French-British dishes, featuring with oxtail crumpets, tea-smoked trout with soda bread, and confit duck leg, carrot and date purée. Accompanying the food, a bespoke wine list has been thoughtfully curated by award-winning sommelier Bert Blaize, showcasing small-scale, hands-on producers.

Opening: 17 January 2025
Address: 10-14 Lonsdale Road, NW6 6RD

La Môme at The Berkeley, Knightsbridge

One of the most highly anticipated openings of the year comes from French restaurateurs (and brothers), Ugo and Antoine Lecorché, who have brought the glamour of Côte d’Azur to The Berkeley with a new iteration of their sophisticated restaurant La Môme. Born on Cannes’ La Croisette in 2018, La Môme pays homage to one of Cannes’ most famous Golden Age hostesses, Lucienne Suzanne Vreurick – nicknamed La Môme Moineau (meaning ‘the little sparrow’) – who was known for throwing lavish parties at the magnificent Art Deco-style Villa Bagatelle overlooking the Bay of Cannes, reflecting the brothers’ passion for hosting and hospitality.

The French flagship was followed by an outpost in Monte Carlo in 2022, before a long-awaited launch in London in February. With the original having regularly hosted movie stars and dignitaries, La Môme London has been imbued with the same stylish vibe as its European sisters thanks to design by award-winning interior architect Samy Chams. On the menu, expect quintessential Mediterranean dishes with a taste of Provence and Italy, prepared in front of guests – from the snipping of thyme into olive oil to deboning a whole wild fish of the day, flame grilled and ready to be shared – while cocktails and digestifs promise plenty of tableside theatrics. This is not one to miss.

Opening: 7 February 2025

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High and Lucky Cat, Bishopsgate

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants has taken London’s restaurant and bar scene to new heights with the opening of three culinary experiences. Spanning three floors at 22 Bishopsgate – London’s tallest office building – dine on award-winning menus with a side of London skyline views, featuring Tower Bridge, The Shard and St Paul’s Cathedral.

On level 60, Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay is the capital’s highest restaurant, offering an Asian-inspired menu, an up-close sushi counter and dedicated cocktail bar, destined to be the coolest hideout in the city. On the same floor, a private dining room – aptly named Restaurant Gordon Ramsay High – takes the form of an intimate 12-seater chef’s table showcasing the legacy of Ramsay’s flagship Chelsea restaurant, which is celebrating its 27th anniversary and its 24th year maintaining three Michelin stars this year. On the 61st floor, meanwhile, the inaugural Lucky Cat Terrace boasts more incredible views and a retractable roof when the sun is shining.

Down on level 59, Bread Street Kitchen and Bar by Gordon Ramsay serves the chain’s signature dishes, cocktails, and an afternoon tea experience. Finally, new for 2025, is a collaboration with Hexclad Academy, where culinary enthusiasts can hone skills from pasta making to mixology, and perfecting the classic beef Wellington. That’s date night, your next work party or friendly get-together sorted.

Oorja, Soho

Oorja, Soho

The latest restaurant venture from Gobind Chona, Oorja – meaning energy in Hindi – offers casual Indian comfort food at its very best. Following the success of his first restaurant, Gura Gura, Oorja – situated on Shaftesbury Avenue – invites guests on a journey through India via vibrant, delicious dishes inspired by northern recipes that have been handed down through generations. The all-day menu begins at breakfast, transporting foodies to the bustling streets of Mumbai with vegan dalia porridge – banana porridge with coconut cream and seasonal berries – and the Oorja sawera kebab platter featuring chicken tikka and lamb kebab with saffron rice, grilled tomato and fried egg.

Leave dinner in the hands of the experts with the restaurant’s unique Chef’s Choice offering  or opt for fail-safe options of Indian-style spatchcock chicken marinated in barbecue sauce with fenugreek and cream cheese, or Railway Lamb Curry: lamb leg with aromatic black cardamom, mace and onion sauce. On Sundays, Oorja will also be serving up its own Indian-inspired Sunday roast, featuring tandoori-spiced roast beef with crispy Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and mixed vegetables topped with garam masala beef gravy.

Alba, Knightsbridge

Bringing a little slice of the Italian coast to Knightsbridge, just a stone’s throw from Harrods, Alba captures la dolce vita with an atmosphere reminiscent of the sights and sounds of southern Italy. Step inside to discover a colour palette of olives, lemon yellows and terracottas, complete with real citrus trees, and a layout seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor dining. Dine on tableware from Ginori – the Florentine porcelain house founded in 1735 – and pick from an eye-catching seafood display featuring lobster and langoustine, as well as oysters, sea urchin, king crab and an array of fresh fish.

Dishes are designed to reflect the very best of Italy: think la figliata di battipaglia, a rich, creamy ‘pregnant mozzarella’ as it’s known in Campania, and culatello di zibello, or ‘little ass’ in Italian, the finest cured meat exclusively harvested in eight towns within Parma's province. Among the mains will be Amalfi staples, such as risotto con gambero (prawn) and saffron, Sicilian carpaccio gambero rossi di mazara, panettone tiramisu, and a range of Italian gelato served tableside.

Mr Porter Steakhouse, Mayfair

Following acclaimed outposts in Barcelona and Amsterdam, Mr Porter (named for the steak cut, not the fashion e-tailer) prides itself on breaking the rules of fine dining – and arrived on Mayfair’s Park Lane in April. Nodding to the heydays of London’s most glamorous district, the designers at Baranowitz + Kronenberg were inspired by the idea of falling through the rabbit hole: enter through a copper door on street level that reveals nothing of the world awaiting behind, before reaching a monochromatic foyer and descending into a dark sensorial space featuring velvets, wood, and natural stone.

Blending the concepts of a modern steakhouse with a chic lounge, menu highlights include prawn salad with grilled corn, avocado and chilli sauce, and roasted sea bass in adobo, followed by signature cuts of ribeye, lady mignon, sirloin and, of course, the Mr or Mrs Porter bone-in fillet, chateaubriand and tomahawk. Wash everything down with signature cocktails such as Love Potion – a mix of mastiha liqueur and rum under a cotton candy cloud – and French Touch: a Parisian serve featuring vodka, citrus, peach, and champagne.

Opening: 3 April 2025

One Club Row, Shoreditch

The brainchild of chef Patrick Powell (Chiltern Firehouse), and co-owners James Dye (Bambi and The Camberwell Arms) and Benjy Leibowitz (NoMad New York), One Club Row has already received rave reviews since it opened in April, praised for its retro interiors, old-fashioned hospitality and no-fuss food. Located above the trio’s pub, The Knave of Clubs, the opening is the first time in the Grade II-listed building’s 145-year history that the first floor has been used as a dining room, and the space has been lovingly restored and complemented by a series of large, bold prints from award-winning London artist, Joy Yamusangie.

The menu, created by Powell and head chef Attila Gellen, starts with oysters and classic martinis, before small snacks like the pickled jalapeno gougères or lobster and country ham croquettes. For the main event, highlights include a signature One Club Row burger au poivre, fish cake with grapefruit hollandaise and Moroccan-style lamb meatballs in a harissa, chickpeas and cucumber yogurt. Don’t miss One Club Row’s live music programme too, with a house pianist scheduled to play every weekend, and monthly shows complemented by cocktails and a late-night bar menu.

Josephine, Marylebone

Esteemed restaurateurs Claude and Lucy Bosi opened the doors to their second Josephine site in Marylebone in April, celebrating the elegance of 19th-century Parisian brasserie culture. Building on the success of Josephine’s sister outpost in Chelsea, this new chapter continues the Bosis’ devotion to French gastronomy – and, in time for spring, the Marylebone restaurant will become home to La Terrasse: a 16-seater al fresco dining area that brings a touch of Parisian escapism to Blandford Street.

Served in surroundings by Fabled Studio – that drew inspiration from the romantic and timeless allure of Parisian bistros, brasseries, and bouillons – expect soufflé au camembert, the counterpart to Chelsea’s version, and escargots à l'ail, alongside fruits de mer, filet de bœuf, poulet aux morilles and a Cordon Bleu coated in perfectly crisp golden breadcrumbs. New for this restaurant is a delectable breakfast menu, capturing the essence of Parisian café culture with buttery viennoiseries and Croque Monsieur.

Parasol, Dalston

the sun tavern

Parasol is a joint venture from the mixologists behind some of the capital’s best bars – Discount Suit Company, The Sun Tavern and The Umbrella Workshop, as well as London’s only working cidery, Umbrella London – and promises to bring cutting-edge cocktails to Stoke Newington Road this spring. Soundtracked by an enviable roster of guest DJs playing esoteric selections based around heady 1980s NYC-style disco, the bar is housed in former Dalston nightclub, The Nest, and while Parasol’s debut menu is yet to be revealed, drinks are expected to be in the vein of what The Umbrella Project does best: riffs on classics and a seasonally-changing signature house menu. There will also be an extensive wine list and bar snack menu courtesy of Provisions Wine and Cheese.

Opening: 1 May 2025
Address: 36 Stoke Newington Road, N16 7XJ

Pyro, Borough

Pyro

The hotly anticipated debut restaurant from ex-Hide, Petrus and Ledbury chef Yiannis Mexis, Pyro is a celebration of cooking over fire and has been thoughtfully designed to capture the laidback buzz of a classic Greek taverna. Named for the Greek word ‘pyr’ – which roughly translates to 'setting things ablaze' – the huge open fire kitchen takes centre stage, as joints of succulent meat, fresh local seafood and seasonal vegetables are scorched to perfection.

We love the sound of grazing plates such as mussel saganaki with toasted bread and souvlaki skewers served with prunes and sour apple, before larger dishes of Dorset lamb accompanied by lamb fat flatbreads and smoked anchovy yogurt, and scorched Cornish turbot served with clams. Plus, Pyro’s bar – a huge open-air garden worthy of any Athenian night spot – will be open late into the evening and serve cocktails curated by Ana Reznik, whose cocktail menu uses vibrant, seasonal Greek ingredients that capture the essence of Mediterranean cuisine.

Opening: 1 May 2025
Address: 53B Southwark Street, SE1 1RU

Hello JoJo, Camberwell

If you hadn’t already noticed, bakeries are the new restaurants. Boasting a menu of seasonal dishes crafted by head chef Will Faris (formerly of The Ritz), alongside delicious baked goods from Jo Garner (Mountain), it will be open from breakfast to dinner serving playful, elevated comfort food. Mornings begin with freshly baked bread and pastries, including chocolate rye Swiss rolls, marmalade tarts, and pizza buns, while evening service will see a menu of skate cheeks with bonito mayonnaise and seaweed and larger plates like Tamworth pork chop with spring garlic soubise. Osteria Angelina, Shoreditch

Can’t get enough of Dalston-based Angelina’s Italian-Japanese cuisine? The good news is 2025 marks the opening of the restaurant’s pasta-focused offshoot: Osteria Angelina. Housed in a converted warehouse on the border of Spitalfields, Shoreditch and The City, founders Joshua Owens-Baigler, Amar Takhar and Laura Horta have expanded their business to serve fresh pasta with a Japanese twist, as well as Italian-Japanese-inspired Binchotan grilled dishes, while embracing the traditional osteria style of northern Italy.

The 75-cover restaurant is centred around a large open kitchen and bar, with a mix of table seating and chef counters, where pasta making will be the star of the show. Having worked at the original Angelina for five years, executive chef Usman Haider is responsible for the relaxed a la carte offering, featuring eight regularly-changing fresh pastas and big grill cuts for sharing, from whole fish to ribeye steaks. The wine list will focus on Italy’s diverse landscape, while a sake list curated by London-based expert Masayo Nuttall will also be on offer alongside a range of cocktails and Japanese whiskies.

Barbarella, Canary Wharf

Barbarella, Canary Wharf
Barbarella

Big Mamma Group – the European restaurateur behind London’s most lavish Italian trattorias, including Carlotta, Ave Mario and Gloria – have added Barbarella in Canary Wharf to its roster. Inspired by the golden age of Roman cinema in the Seventies, the new restaurant will be a retro, jungle-themed city pad among the lofty skyscrapers of London’s business district, and will be housed in a water-side condo decked out in vintage Ferragamo silks and glitzy details. What’s more, Barbarella will have a canal-side terrace for soaking up the sunshine.

The kitchen will be led by Rome-born Marco Rastelli who will be serving up a menu inspired by his home town, including daily changing, extra-thin, extra-wide ruota di carretto pizzas, and indulgent fresh pasta like the new one-metre-long spaghettone. For mains, there will be the likes of Cornish lemon sole to share and grilled Phillip Warren steaks, from delicate fillets to a vast 1.2kg T-bones. End on a sweet note with a dedicated gelati section – think white chocolate, pistachio or chocolate – all drizzled in a sauce of choice.

Brasserie Constance, Fulham

Adam Byatt
Adam Byatt

Michelin-starred chef Adam Byatt is moving to Fulham Pier in 2025 with the launch of Brasserie Constance, a modern British dining experience rooted in south-west London's history. The restaurant is inspired by its namesake, Constance Spry, who was widely known for her floristry and ceramic collaboration with the historic Fulham Pottery – an inspiration that takes shape in the floral motifs and bespoke handmade ceramics that will adorn the space. Sample menus include the likes of clay pot chicken, mussels and cockles with soda bread, and treacle, date and walnut tart. If they’re anything like the fare served at Byatt’s Trinity restaurant in Clapham, you can expect very good things.

Situated on the picturesque thoroughfare of Dorset Street, the restaurant remains intrinsic to the brand’s food DNA, serving plates inspired by Harnett’s heritage. Presented in the typically Italian format of cichetti, primi, secondi, and dolce, expect plenty of hand-rolled pasta, large sharing plates, seasonal specials, and new dishes exclusive to the W1 site.

Aram at Somerset House, Strand

Aram is a new cafe, deli and restaurant from Imad Alarnab, the founder of Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, and co-founders Michalis Ntais and Christos Georgogiannopoulos, set to open in Somerset House in September. A departure from Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, and marking 10 years since Imad fled his war-torn home, Aram will serve baked goods, salads, breakfasts and lunches that pay homage to the flavours and culinary traditions of Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan and beyond. Aram will overlook Somerset House’s River Terrace, and house four beautifully designed rooms, while maintaining the historic building’s original features.

Open for breakfast and lunch, guests will enter via the deli, where they will be greeted by a counter generously piled high with pastries, dips, salads, wraps and breads – think zaatar croissants, halva brownies and a coffee counter serving cardamom spiced coffee, Syrian mint tea and spiced pomegranate fizz. Helmed by Hari Shetty and Ori Geller – who collectively offer two decades of experience at some of the world’s best restaurants, including Nobu and Mr Porter – this will be the brand's UK debut and will open inside The Whiteley, following success in Amsterdam and a summer residency in Ibiza's 7Pines Resort.

At the heart of the restaurant will be an open kitchen, giving guests an inside view of the action as it unfolds, as well as a centrepiece bar designed as a place to soak up the atmosphere over beautifully curated drinks. Dishes here will naturally showcase many of the flame-cooked signatures made famous in Amsterdam, including artichoke with wild spinach and hollandaise sauce, and open flame sea bream with parsley rub.

The venue will be spread across two levels with an outdoor terrace, with each space offering a distinct and unique experience. Aki, which has made its name in Malta, will make its London debut this September on Cavendish Square. Designed to reflect the original Aki outpost, which opened in Valletta in 2020, the restaurant will offer a modern take on classic Japanese cuisine with a focus on freshly sourced ingredients. Housed in a former bank that has just emerged from a £15m, two-year renovation – and with interiors by UK-based designer Francis Sultana – the menu is centred around classic sushi, robata and Kushiyaki dishes while the cocktail menu nods to Japanese-Maltese influences. Our favourite? The Rising Sun with Gin L’Arbre, Yuzushu, Bianco Vermouth, honey and a green tea ice cube.

Alta, Soho

Named after the Alta Navarra peninsula, which spans from Donostia to Pamplona in northern Spain, Alta will take over Kingly Court's largest site as chef Rob Roy Cameron’s London debut. Drawing inspiration from a decade spent living and working in the Basque region, Cameron’s curated open-fire cooking will be central to Alta’s menu, forming snacks and smaller plates – think razor clams with white saffron escabeche, and sardine empanada with piparra emulsion – and a grill section including whole seabream, 35-day aged beef sirloin and Hen of the Woods mushroom.

The cocktail list will draw inspiration from Spanish flavours, taking a culinary approach and incorporating spirits from small-batch British producers. We love the sound of the Pine Martini, crafted with vodka, vermouth and birch water, and the Little Pepper, oozing flavours of smoked red pepper, tequila, tomato and vermouth. Chin-chin.

Rosi at The Beaumont, Mayfair

This October, The Beaumont will unveil Rosi: an exciting new restaurant set to replace the hotel’s current flagship, The Colony Grill, and led by acclaimed chef and newly-appointed culinary director, Lisa Goodwin-Allen. Working alongside executive chefs Brendan Fyldes and Jozef Rogulski, who led the kitchen at The Game Bird at The Stafford London for eight years alongside Goodwin-Allen, the menu here promises wit, warmth and tableside theatre.

Seasonal signature pies are designed to be showstoppers, including an old-fashioned pork pie that pays homage to traditional British favourites. Steaks are impeccably sourced, featuring cuts of English wagyu, Lake District beef and heritage Hereford herds, all chosen for their exceptional flavour and provenance, while those with a sweet tooth will love the Mayfair Millionaire’s Tart: Goodwin-Allen’s take on a much-loved dish with a knowing nod to London’s most affluent locale. Reflecting both the restaurant name and its female chef, Rosi’s design will move away from the somewhat masculine, clubby feel of The Colony Grill towards a bright, characterful and, of course, Instagrammable interior. Watch this space.
