The trio of music events will be live streamed on Medici.tv, where they’ll remain until the end of October

In a bid to help artists who have suffered the loss of audiences and income during the coronavirus pandemic, Swiss watch brand Rolex is organising three classical music concerts at prestigious venues across Europe.

The ‘Perpetual Music’ project will kick-off with an orchestral performance at the Teatro Rossini opera house at Pesaro, Italy, on Friday 21 August. A recital programme will then be held at the Berlin Staatsoper on Tuesday 1 September, before the Opéra national de Paris hosts a repertoire of baroque and chamber music on Thursday 3 September.

Each concert will be introduced by a Rolex Testimonee. Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez will lead the evening entertainment in Pesaro; Bulgarian-Swiss operatic soprano Sonya Yoncheva will begin the concert in Berlin; while Mexico’s renown lyric tenor Rolando Villazón and France’s classical violinist Renaud Capuçon will commence proceedings in Paris. Each of the subsequent artists that will perform at the concerts will have been personally selected by one of the Testimonees.

“During these difficult times, our aim is to provide musicians and singers with the opportunity to perform with renowned artists at prestigious venues with the finest acoustics,” says Arnaud Boetsch, Rolex director of communication and image. “This gift of time and exposure is in keeping with Rolex’s pursuit of excellence and its long-term commitment to foster the work of those who aim to reach the pinnacle of their profession.”

Rolex’s Perpetual Music concerts will be live-streamed on Medici.tv and be available to view on the platform until the end of October 2020.
