TASAKI, the leading Japanese jewellery house stealing the hearts (and necklines, ears and wrists) of loyal customers since 1954, has opened its first-ever permanent counter at Selfridges. The grand opening (which took place on 22 April 2025) marks a big moment for the brand, following its 70th anniversary last year, and arrives just in time for summer, welcoming new-to-the-brand shoppers and in-the-know jewellery collectors to feast their eyes on TASAKI’s stunning collection of pearls and diamonds. 

Situated in Selfridges’ iconic Wonder Room, the new counter puts TASAKI alongside the world’s most recognisable fine jewellery houses, and significantly expands the brand’s London presence. Alongside its Bond Street boutique (which opened in 2019 as TASAKI’s first European flagship store), the counter marks TASAKI’s second point of sale in the UK (and adds to the more than 100 points of sale that exist globally). 

“This marks a significant milestone in TASAKI’s journey in the UK, building on our New Bond Street debut in 2019 and further deepening our valued partnership with Selfridges,” says Takuya Kimura, officer of head of EMEA & US and managing director of TASAKI UK & France.

The permanent presence follows in the footsteps of TASAKI’s successful Floating Shell pop-up exhibition, hosted at Selfridges for a three-month stint between November 2024 to February 2025. Thankfully, fans of the brand will be pleased to know that the counter is here for the long haul this time around.

The new location will showcase the very best of TASAKI’s fine craftsmanship and beautiful designs, spotlighting its renowned Akoya pearl jewellery. As the world’s principal producer of these precious natural gems, they are featured across the house’s high and fine jewellery collections, both of which will be on offer at Selfridges. 

Characterised by timeless design with a modern edge, those new to TASAKI should look to the likes of its balance, danger and chants collections, all featuring necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings, for classic, feminine pieces with contemporary appeal. 

For something a little more bold, invest in a unique creation from TASAKI’s Atelier line. Take, for example, the Cascade necklace and earrings, which imitate the shimmering beauty of a waterfall via Akoya pearls, paraiba tourmaline, white gold and a scattering of diamonds. Or the Flourish collection, representing the beauty of the ocean with a mix of beautiful stones including sapphire, pink tourmaline, topaz, diamonds and, of course, more pearls.
