2025 has brought a shiny mix of stones and styles into our jewellery boxes. From layered necklaces that elegantly drape the neckline, and colourful summer beads that bring something bright and bohemian, to the big revival of vintage pearls. The one jewellery trend that’s going to define this season, however? Ear cuffs.
While ear cuffs have been around for decades, their popularity has seriously picked up over the last couple of years. We saw them on the SS25 runways, featuring heavily across the collections of Valentino and Completedworks, while a bevy of A-list celebrities have also been getting in on the look. Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett showed off decorated lobes at the 2025 Golden Globes, while Pamela Anderson rocked an ear cuff at the Met Gala, and Kiera Knightley followed suit at Wimbledon. It’s also a look that’s taking over everyday jewellery boxes, too. British jewellery brand Otiumberg has seen ear cuff sales surge by 269 per cent over the last 12 months, making up 25 per cent of all earrings sold by the brand in the past year.

So what’s all the fuss about (because, don’t worry, I needed some convincing too)? Well, the real big selling point of ear cuffs – which commitment phobes will love – is that you don’t need a piercing. The design simply hugs the ear lobe or cartilage, so no new piercing and no needle required (and definitely no regrets in years to come). Simple and pain-free, it’s the perfect way to achieve that stacked, decorated look without the fuss.
Traditionally thought of as an edgy jewellery addition, whether you consider yourself a modern-day cool-girl who likes a little grunge or tends towards the more classic with your style, there’s a contemporary ear cuff out there for everyone. Think everything from dramatic sculptural pieces embellished with colour and gemstones, or simply rendered in striking golds and silvers, to delicate, dainty, and more feminine pieces that are soft and simple for minimal accessorising.
