Choosing an engagement ring that your other half is going to (hopefully) love and cherish for the rest of your lives together is no mean feat – and one can only assume the pressure is severely heightened when said other half is a celebrity whose style choices are the subject of frequent public discussion. Platinum or yellow gold? Brilliant or square-cut? How many carats is enough to look impressive in paparazzi pictures? Celebrity engagement rings truly are a minefield.

Happily, such first-world problems do serve as a source of inspiration for the rest of us. Know your bride-to-be is particularly fond of the Princess of Wales’ classic style or Zendaya’s Hollywood glamour? Then there’s your perfect place to start. Read on for the latest and greatest celebrity engagement rings to inspire your own perfect proposal (plus some similar styles that don’t require an A-list sized bank account).

Zendaya

Estimated price: £160,000

In true Hollywood style, Zendaya hard-launched her engagement to British actor Tom Holland on the Golden Globes 2025 red carpet, where she matched a deep orange Louis Vuitton gown to a stunning east-west emerald cut diamond ring. Created by London-based jeweller Jessica McCormack, the term east-west is used to describe a diamond laid horizontally along the band and perpendicular to the finger, in this case a 5.02ct oval-cut diamond set on 18k yellow gold. Simple, elegant and modern, pick this for the fashion-forward bride who also has a penchant for tradition.

Selena Gomez

Estimated price: £180,000

When Benny Blanco proposed to Selena Gomez in December 2024, he did so with a ring that was as classic a beauty as his bride-to-be. Featuring a marquise diamond, thought to weigh in at around six carats, on a diamond and yellow gold eternity band, it’s an usual and somewhat rare choice, with less than five per cent of all diamonds cut in a marquise style. In a thoroughly modern move, the couple designed the ring together, with Gomez removing an original pair of flanking baguette diamonds from the original design in favour of something (relatively) smaller and simpler.

Dua Lipa

Estimated price: £30,000

While neither Dua Lipa nor partner Callum Turner have officially announced their engagement, the singer has been spotted numerous times sporting a whopper of a diamond on that finger since Turner reportedly popped the question over Christmas 2024. Rumoured to be from that most classic of bridal destinations, Tiffany & Co., Dua Lipa’s engagement ring is, in fact, far from traditional. The ‘bombe’ style ring sees a large central stone entirely surrounded by a chunky gold band, giving it an almost signet ring vibe, while playing with traditional notions of feminine engagement jewellery. A gorgeous alternative engagement ring for an unconventional bride.

Katherine, The Princess of Wales

Estimated worth: £300,000-£400,000

In true crown jewel style, when William, the Prince of Wales, proposed to the then-Kate Middleton in 2010 he did so, not with a new ring, but with a family heirloom: the sapphire and diamond Garrard engagement ring once owned by his mother, Princess Diana. Originally commissioned by Prince Charles in 1981, and inspired by a Garrard sapphire brooch worn by Queen Victoria, the ring features a central 12-carat Sri Lankan sapphire surrounded by a halo of 14 brilliant-cut diamonds on an 18 karat white gold band. Costing £28,000 when bought new in the 1980s, adjusted for inflation, the ring would now cost around £120,000 but, thanks to its history and unique royal connections, is thought to be worth up to £400,000.

Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex

Estimated price: £300,000

Recently voted the most popular engagement ring in the world in a poll conducted by the Natural Diamond Council, Prince Harry also looked to his late mother when designing Meghan Markle’s engagement ring in 2017. The trilogy design features a three-carat cushion-cut Botswanan diamond set between two round diamonds, which once belonged to Princess Diana, on a yellow gold band. It’s thought that Meghan has updated her engagement ring at least three times since the original proposal, with Lorraine Schwartz adding a micro-pavé diamond band to mark the arrival of the couple’s son Archie in 2019, and further delicate diamonds added around the central stone in 2022. Eagle-eyed viewers also believe that the original cushion cut central stone may have been swapped for an emerald-cut diamond in recent promotional videos for Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Adele

Estimated price: £700,000 - £1 million

Adele and her partner Rich Paul announced their engagement in August 2024, after three years together, with the singer debuting an elegant pear-cut diamond engagement ring. In true Adele fashion, the announcement came not via a carefully crafted public statement or social media post, but by the performer turning down an optimistic proposal from a concert goer in Munich, telling him, “I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married”. Adele’s engagement ring was created by jeweller to the stars Lorriane Schwartz and features a diva-worthy 10-carat claw-set pear-shaped diamond on a pavé band. While colour and clarity make a big difference to price to a stone this large if, as many experts suspect, only the finest D-colour, Internally Flawless stones were used, Adele’s engagement ring could well be worth in excess of £1 million.

Lady Gaga

Estimated price: £500,000 - £1.6 million

Perhaps one of the most extraordinary celebrity engagement rings, Michael Polansky didn’t hold back when it came to finding a ring worthy of his fiancée, Lady Gaga. Estimated to be worth up to $2 million (£1.6 million), this astonishing ring was created by California-based Sophia Jewelry and features an 18-20 carat oval diamond set on a white and rose band set with natural pink ombré diamonds. Fittingly for someone set to be married to the star of Joker: Folie à Deux, Polansky proposed on April Fool’s Day 2024, with the couple officially announcing their engagement at the Venice Film Festival later that year.
