Elle, the Legally Blonde prequel, has just dropped on Prime Video and with it a flurry of pink. As we watch the Harvard Law School student journey through her former years as a teenager, we also welcome the return of pop culture’s most iconic wearer of pink (excluding Barbie). Elle Woods made the sweet, girly shade more than just a stereotypical feminine colour, transforming it into a hue that stood for ambition, confidence and self-empowerment, and we couldn’t thank her enough.

From the iconic hot pink wardrobe of the show to the celebrities donning the aforementioned shade at the series’ premieres, pink is still very much part of the story, and is also having its moment off screen as a result. Lexi Minetree, who plays Elle Woods, wore a striking fuchsia Stella McCartney dress on the red carpet in the UK, while Reese Witherspoon (the original Elle Woods, who also executive produced the series) wore a silky pink dress from Prada for the US premiere.

But it’s not just the Elle effect that is putting pink on our fashion radar this summer; we’re actually seeing it in sport too. If you’ve been cheering for England in the World Cup, you’ll surely have noticed the players’ football boots. Pretty hard to miss in their vibrant fuchsia hue, standing out against the green grass and breaking down traditional gender codes, while rosy hues have also become a favourite among the goalkeepers of various nations. A cultural moment in all senses.

Always ahead of the curve, the SS26 catwalks were laden with pink, with designers including Alaïa, Chloé, Dries Van Noten and Chanel confirming it as one of this season’s standout colours. Playful but powerful, fuchsia offers much more than simply a cliched Barbie-esque colour palette. It’s bright, bold, athletic, empowering, and we can’t get enough of it.

Whether opting for full-blown, head-to-toe colour drenching or just adding a subtle touch with bright accents and accessories, shop our favourite fashion picks that promise to tickle you pink.
