The best dressed men of 2024
From the return of Robbie to the arrival of Powell, these are the men that upped the style ante in 2024
Welcome to Luxury London’s painstakingly deliberated-over round-up of 2024’s best dressed men, which, for practical, image-sourcing and SEO reasons, concentrates exclusively, and unapologetically, on well-dressed famous men. We simply didn’t have the time, we hope you understand, to monitor the style ups and downs of every man in 2024. There’s every chance, of course, that there are better dressed men in your office than the chaps on this list. You might have more stylish friends. Nattier neighbours. We’re not even saying that you don’t dress more snappily than the men on this list yourself. To which we can only apologise. And admit that this round up should have been titled ‘The best dressed celebrities of 2024’. But, you know, SEO and all that.
Moving on. Here are some prominent people that dressed very well in 2024. Including Robbie’s return, Craig’s conversion, the arrival of Powell, and an under-the-radar newsreader.
10. Barry Keoghan
Following star turns in Top Boy and The Banshees of Inisherin in 2023, Barry Keoghan smashed his way into public consciousness through Saltburn, a film most famous for a scene in which the Irish actor wears no clothes at all. When he does wear clothes, Keoghan has proved a penchant for going big, bold and dramatic. Whether that be in head-to-toe velvet Burberry (MET Gala 2024) or sleeveless, ivory-white, midriff-exposing Dolce & Gabbana (as per the premiere of Masters of the Air, above right). Brave roles. Brave clothes.
9. Daniel Craig
Who saw that coming? The clue might been in the Belvedere Vodka advert. After trading in his license to kill, Daniel Craig grew his hair long, ditched the skin-tight Tom Ford suits and has invested in a wardrobe that’s far more louche and Loewe-heavy. So outré have some of the outfits of the outgoing James Bond became, that they’ve spawned their own social media fan accounts. By comparison to some of his other red-carpet looks, the nude suit and oversized aviators he wore to the 2024 Venice Film Festival in September looked positively conservative. Live and let live, we say.
8. Aaron Taylor-Johnson
From the sixth James Bond to many bookies’ favourite to be the seventh 007. In a way, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s career to date has been one long audition to be cast as the new secret service agent. Increasingly, bold wardrobe choices signal an actor who’s already comfortable with pushing the sartorial boat out. Whether he’s suit and booted, or plumping for something more casual and off-duty, Taylor-Johnson has demonstrated a knack for playfully riffing off more traditional get-ups.
7. Ian Wright
Smart move from Marks & Spencer signing up Ian Wright as one of its latest menswear ambassadors. Since his playing days the footballer-turned-pundit has morphed into one of the best-dressed men on TV, mixing streetwear with playful, fine-tailoring to create a signature look that is both classic and contemporary. The double-breasted blazer above, for example, is from Savile Row’s Clothsurgeon, which is where you if you’re looking to inject some personality into a time-honoured wardrobe staples.
6. Robbie Williams
Following the widely-watched Netflix documentary series, Robbie Williams, and the already critical-acclaimed semi-biographical musical, Better Man, the boy-band megastar from Stoke is back on the public stage, and looking rather fab during the current rounds of press appearances. Having demonstrated an appreciation of runway pieces from Gucci and Louis Vuitton in recent years, Williams’ style continues to evolve, with plenty of bold takes on traditional menswear staples, and some chest-exposing ensembles you’d need the cajónes of a stadium-filling popstar to pull off. Which he does, naturally.
5. Clive Myrie
Clive Myrie. Now there’s a man who appreciates the importance of a strong shirt collar and properly fitting suit. As far as we can tell, no one’s ever written about the BBC newsreader’s love of an unstructured shoulder, smart cutaway collar and slim silk necktie, tied, from what we can tell, in a classic four-in-hand knot. Well, hear this Clive. We see you. Every night at 10 o’clock. And we’re big fans. Keep up the good work, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Not by us, at least.
4. Michael Kiwanuka
An admission: we were familiar with Michael Kiwanuka’s music, long before we became aware of the Mercury Prize-winner’s unique personal style, best described, shall we say, as ‘preppy-indie-grunge’. It was an appearance on this year's The Graham Norton Show, to which he wore Dr. Martens boots paired with baggy cargo pants and a chunky, rust-coloured cable-knit, that alerted us to the latter. Since then, we’ve been keeping a keen eye on what Kiwanuka wears on stage. And we like how he’s throwing things back to the mid-nineties. Apt, given the folk-indie leanings of most of his music.
3. Oleksandr Usyk
Whether he’s making his way to the arena in a tracksuit featuring 25 chestnut leaves – one for each of Ukraine’s 25 regions, including annexed Crimea – or entering the ring in the traditional dress of a 17th-century Cossack warrior (above), Oleksandr Usyk’s choice of clothing carries huge significance. The Cossack dress, worn during the first Tyson Fury bout, was one of the coldest entrances in boxing history. Outside of the ring, Usyk has demonstrated a fondness for traditional Ukrainian dress and, what else, Stone Island outerwear. Don’t believe he warrants a place on this list? Go and tell him yourself.
2. Glen Powell
This year picked up where 2023 left off for Glen Powell. After the success of Anyone but You, in which he co-starred alongside Sydney Sweeney, Powell’s star continued to rise thanks to the success of Netflix’s Hit Man and cinema’s Twisters. It was during the promotional tour for the tornado flick that the actor began catching the attention of the style set for his unashamedly all-American ’fits. Namely, cowboy boots paired with vintage Levis, Ray-Ban Wayfarers, and a white vest underneath an open shirt. Nothing groundbreaking, but he nailed it. As you can see, however, Hollywood’s newest heartthrob knows how to dress things up, too.
1. King Charles III
If the idea of a King is to represent the best of us, to provide an icon to which we can all aspire, there’s no questioning Charles’ choice of clothes as a continual source of sartorial inspiration. The talismanic fine-tailoring devotee tops this 2024 list by proxy, his carefully-considered, impeccably-cut outfits a perennial lesson in how to dress properly. Expect His Majesty to occupy a similar spot next year. And the year after that, and the year...
