Triptych Bankside unveils new Angel O’Donnell-designed show apartment

Triptych Bankside, the new mixed-use development designed by internationally acclaimed London architect Squire & Partners, and developed by JTRE London, has just unveiled a show-stopping £5m apartment designed by lauded interiors studio Angel O’Donnell. The luxe home is the latest turnkey offering from the £450 million, 169-home scheme situated on London’s South Bank.

Angel O’Donnell, co-founded by Richard Angel and Ed O’Donnell, was numbered among Andrew Martin’s Top 100 Designers last year, and boasts a British Institute of Interior Design Award, eight International Property Awards, and the coveted Overall Winner trophy at the Society of British and International Interior Design. Known for its thoughtful designs and intelligent collaborations, as well as its pin-sharp attention to detail, its work for Triptych has resulted in a beautiful, design-led, collaborative space that doesn’t compromise on comfort.

The second apartment at Triptych designed by the studio (the first, a penthouse, was unveiled in early 2024), the new three-bedroom property is characterised by careful curation at every corner. Its earthy, tonal palette is enhanced by charming woven wall tapestries, Arts and Crafts rugs, and colourful yet understated artworks, bringing softness and authenticity to the sleek and sophisticated property.

Ed O’Donnell, co-founder and creative director of Angel O’Donnell, says: “Triptych Bankside’s fluid architecture, world-famous views, and culturally dynamic location are endlessly inspiring. It’s why we jumped at the chance to interior design another show residence here.

“To open buyers’ eyes to the design-versatility of these gorgeous apartments, we embraced an entirely new aesthetic, replacing high-gloss finishes, colour-soaked fashion photography and contemporary silhouettes with period mouldings, intricately woven tapestries, and dark wood furniture,” he continues. “It’s a sophisticated look, calm and quietly assured, aimed at a seasoned couple with an appetite for London’s art and food scene.”

Tranquil and homely, warm, copper-hued wallpaper lifts the entranceway, while an amorphous shaped mirror, paired with a clean-lined console featuring a geometric mosaic of inlaid wood, brings interesting silhouettes and textures to the space.

The impressive principal bedroom boasts a vast, bespoke oil painting, full of swooping, lilting brushstrokes. Bringing a beautiful sense of movement, colour and energy to the room, it hangs above a tailor-made, low-slung bed, upholstered in pale blue velvet cotton, flanked by walnut-veneered wall panels, with a handy dressing area opposite. Opposite the plush and inviting bed, a large column has been mirrored to reflect light and extend the extraordinary views, for which the development’s top properties are renowned. The effect is a tranquil yet rooted sanctuary from the bustling South Bank below.

To really maximise on those views, the stunning apartment has not one but four terraces in all directions, facing east, south and west. This access to unparalleled private outside space creates an environment which brings the outside in from morning until night; the lucky buyer would enjoy sunrises over The Shard and sunset views over the River Thames, with clear panoramas as far as St Paul’s Cathedral.

Catering for high-net-worth buyers, this unique apartment boasts a “cultivated and mature aesthetic”, without compromising on homely touches. Illuminated with natural light, it is fully furnished and ready to go – ideal for buyers looking for a move-in ready home.

Just a short walk from the Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and renowned culinary hotspot Borough Market, the area’s incredible cultural offering has been further enhanced by the Open University-accredited Art Academy, which opened its doors last year in the 14,000 square foot cultural space at Triptych Bankside.

Richard Angel adds: “It’s little wonder Triptych Bankside continues to pull in the crowds. It’s a remarkable development – audaciously designed, modernist in spirit, with superb quality at its core. Ed and the team have had a blast crafting the interiors for its latest show residence. From both a design and commercial perspective, when you get to work on such an amazing apartment – open, spacious, well appointed – there’s no end to what you can achieve.”
